This is the first Change My Mind meme where I would actually try to change his mind.

I will agree that the divisions of time are arbitrary and artificial but society requires us all to use the same basic divisions of time based on external measurable events such as the sun rising and setting. Not the erratic sleep schedule of one one man.

Society would be doomed if they based their days on my subjective days. Sometimes I don't sleep at night in a conventional sense but I take two four naps turning one day into two.

I think it refers to each person's own view of their own day. When midnight hits, it never feels like a new day, but it does when I wake up in the morning.

It reminds me of a acquaintance of mine that said his definition of "tomorrow" required one of three things "I go to sleep, I eat breakfast, or I personally witness the sun rising."

Note, that acquaintance was a cool popular guy in high school who had a very unremarkable adult life where he constantly refers back to his high school glory days.
