Blog Suds Paint Blog of Conquest: The Last Arguments of Kings

Although Infantry Week wasnt a huge success, there was progress which is ultimately the goal. My Matriarch Queen is at a real good point and I look forward to working on her again in the last work of W'adrhŭntober aka Orctober. 20211018_105632.jpg 20211018_105706.jpg 20211018_105746.jpg 20211018_105819.jpg

I did do a poll on Twitter about this week. I asked if I should extend Infantry Week due to the slow progression, continue qith Monster Week with the Tontorr or a third option of Monster week with an AOS special Orktober project. Ultimately Monster Week with the Tontorr won, which I think I was Ultimately hoping for. So here we are.

I am going for a less realistic look and a more fantasy dinosaur look, especially as this Sauropod has feathers; and to my knowledge no official Sauropod had feathers. So far these are just base colors. I am planning to use Reikland Fleshshade & Agragax Earthshade to darken the Rakarth Flesh sections and then add some blues to purples and different greens to the green sections, hoping to blend some of the purple and green together also. Lots to go but a real good start!

Hey everyone!

Lots of good progress on my Tontorr since the last post, dare I say nearly done with the Sauropod itself. Lots of dry brushing on scales and feathers, washes but the most fun and I think part that brings it to life is the addition of the War Paint :)

Tried to come up with a few different things + a few inspired ones by art pieces i looked through. All in all real happy with the outcome so far, though still some little details to work out. One such detail is determing if I want to put war paint down the tail or not. Part of me feels the tail feels naked, but I also can't decide if it would be too busy. What do you think?

C&C welcome and appreciated.

This is turning out to be quite the beauty! I love the colors you used.
And the war paint looks epic :artist::artist:

The Thunder Lizard mark is so good.

Thank you everyone, I really appreciate it! I'm sorry for the lack of posts but I really wanted to wait and share until I had more than a WIP picture to share:) With that said, Ive done a lot of work on the Tontorr especially, and am at a place to happily call it done! :)

I really love how the colors came out and how each element (Base, Tontorr, and Howdah) really play well together. I (and it seems you all too!) really love the war paint and how much it adds to the piece; giving it an added primal feel. It feels like it was made for the W'adrhŭn line to me, especially with the feathers added.

The howdah came out really well, though I may still add to it slowly (it is securely dry fitted on). I did some freehand, doing a large Thunder Lizard/Tontorr symbol and also a few tribal symbols on the sides (though hard to see in the pictures).

The base, though rather simple I really like, using cork to make two hills of sorts and adding some flowers to make the field more alive.

Ill be posting a video to my Instagram soon if anyone wants to check it out, Ill post a link here when I do! Also, it is on a 100mm base, I am going to also be using it for my Seraphon as a Stegadon. Plan is to magnetize it to a 120mm oval base for AOS, skinks look great on it!

Looks great suds!

Wow how many skinks or saurus regiments can that guy fit on his back?!?

Pretty stoked to also have this first Raptor Rider done, with the 2 of this group of 3 close behind.

One thing I really like about Conquest are the dynamic poses the models are in, and I believe the Raptor Riders really showcase this. I just absolutely love how much motion the models have, especially as more common units and not a hero unit.

Really happy with how they both came out overall, with the W'adrhŭn I am pretty happy with the skin tone; something I have been wanting to improve since I don't paint skin that much.

This is a kitbash, even though just a small tweak, the shield. But even the small addition I think adds a lot to the model.

The Raptor's scheme is inspired by the changing leaves during this time of year, going from green to the many colors. Additionally, it kinda looks like fire lol but I still enjoy it.

I'm excited to see them all lined up next to each other :)

I hope everyone is doing well! C&C is welcome :)
