No we said the warscroll where bad... And they are. It the synergy that makes them work so well.
In Kroak case it's a change to one warscroll we can make detect comparisons and he is worse. Still very much usable but definitely worse. And a complete disappointment as we were expecting a big change and got very little

We didn't miss it, Lore of Celestial Domination is just not a good one. It can't be compared to Lore of Hysh or Lore of Winds, where each spell is at least decent.

If kroak had access to all spells in both our lores, that could be interesting. But Domination-only is meh. Good, but doesn't really change anything.

To be fair, most of the book still is bad.

For kroak, I think, at least for me, it's the fact that a new model is coming out, they could have given us a new warscroll along the lines of belakor, they could have given us a teclis level 600 point centrepiece, instead it's basically the same warscroll with a couple buffs and a survivability nerf that's just a rehash of his rules from the last tome. It's thoroughly underwhelming.

This is the biggest issue. Regardless of the "new" kroak actually being good or bad, the fact that it's so similar is just lame and significantly undercuts how cool the new model is. I wouldn't be surprised if they managed to lose some sales as it kinda ruins the hype.

I must respectfully disagree. Lore of Celestial domination may not be an astounding spell lore, but it brings a lot of flexibility and utility with it.

It will be very nice to have. I'm willing to bet most people haven't tried most of those spells, and now might find them better than they thought.
 
The spells are not all the best, but I agree with @ArtoriusaurusRex, they give a lot of flexibility, and not having to wait to change them is quite nice. If you're not able to cast Celestial Deliverance, you now have more choices.
I do wish he had access to the Skink lore too. I do not see why it would be locked away from Slann.

If kroak could cast skink spells, would you still take a skink wizard? I wouldnt. Our wizards are expensive.
 
So this update doesn't not represent the kroak in fluff and then fact that an 18 wound model can actually die (however low the chance) is the most moronic rule going.

Of course I would. Arcane vassal, hero keyword, small and easy to hide, gives out secondary buffs, warscroll spells, and they're fast for infantry. Just because Kroak gets to cast their spells doesn't mean you won't want them. 120 is fine for a Starpriest, and if you listen to the discourse online is far too cheap for what they do.

You may not see the value in skink Wizards, but there is definitely value in them other than their lore.

Skinks wizards are the best thing we have now and are at the perfect price for how much we need them in order to function

I tried 4 of them at least once. Never tried Walk between realms, because there were no situation where I really needed it, and if I needed fly badly, I would simply use CA. It is nice to have, but nothing exceptional. I also never tried Drain Magic. And can be used a safe "reroll" of a failed dispel attempt, but, in general, endless spells are not that common and dangerous now, that you don't need to remove more than one per turn. And you can do it with dispel more reliably anyway.

Once again, ability is nice to have, but I look at Lumineth magic and want to cry. It is infinitely better, than our lore.

I don't think, that people take skink heroes for lore of celestial manipulation at all. The only time I want a skink hero for their lore is a blob of coalesced skinks, who badly need Celestial harmony. All the effect from the lore can either be easily replicated or simply not worth it (Extend Astromatrix is one of the worst spells in game). But Kroak occasionally throwing out a Hand of Glory could be very nice.
 
I never used Kroak before because I didn't have the old model. Not sure that I'll jump into the new model or the "updated" warscroll. Sigh... I guess they couldn't change him too much or it would be out of line with our book?

What if the rule were 2D6 and 18+ to die? You wouldn't have to worry until 6 wounds. Still meh... but "better"?

EDIT: I guess I can see why it could be good/frustrating... I guess. Let's say your opponent gets him to 16 wounds in one round, and you roll a 3 on 3D6 (I know how unlikely that is). Kroak heals ALL wounds and your opponent has to start all over again. But as has been mentioned already, he could die after just 2 WOUNDS!

Already better, it'd at least mandate some actual effort being put into killing him so it'd safe the seraphon player some frustration.

Still wouldn't make him any less frustrating for opponents though, as he's still basicly immortal if you lack shooting.

Which also begs the question, why was this variant of dead for innumerable ages brought back? Wasn't it explicitly removed because the old version had the exact same problems and frustrations?

Honostly I was excited because I think the model is really cool, and was planning to get it and pay one of the local good painters who do commissions to do it for me, but with the "wakey fun random wounds rule!" he just doesn't seem fun to play, so I probably won't.
