So i had a battle this morning/afternoon against ogres kingdoms. I fielded a slann with for the first time wandering deliberations.

Great Fun! Having the ability to chose from 8 spells is just awesome. What is your lot experience with WD?

For the record i lost the battle because of a miscast with my slann (with 3 dice). Lost 16 Temple guards and the slann itself . I fielded 38 Temple guards.

Certainly going to try it again with WD, just curious if you lot had any experiences with it.

WD is one of my favourites. Helped me a lot in a battle with WoC where I wiped out half a Chaos Knight unit with Searing Doom.

IMHO taking either FoM or WD is a must for a Slann. Having 8 spells makes you very versatile.

In truth, FoM is more versatile as you get to roll in the Lore of your choice but I dislike the randomity so if HM is better for my match up, then I'll take that (not planning with changing out any spells).

Both FoM and WD are excellent choices, I usually go FoM because I feel it's more versatile, but I definitely think they're both viable choices. Oh yeah, and Lore of Life is pretty strong too, helps with the miscasts. Nothing worse than your slann deciding that your enemy is not worth his time and warping into the realm of chaos to go demon hunting.

FoM can only be used if you pick lore of high magic right? Think it says so in our army book. Lore of life is sweet indeed but you do have to roll the spell that discards rolling in the dispell table. 9 outta 10 times you will get it of course (one double roll and you got it). Was a great experience with WD, going to play it alot more now.

Yeah, I've gotten blown out a few times with Lore of Life. Toughness 6 saurus and dwellers below are still pretty ridicolous, so it's not the worst. I still think FoM is better, but it does get a little boring after a while. I should try out WD, can't remember the last time I ran a WD slann.

Wandering Deliberations is an extremely solid choice, but I've always favoured Focus of Mystery myself. Being able to swap out spells mid-game is just too much fun.

Also had a skink priest almost on the other side of the battlefield, range was not a problem :D

That is a "must include" if you're running a Slann. Waaaaaaaay too useful to not have a Skink satellite as remote gunpoint! :D

Had to read the rules again for it though, thought you could cast any spell through your priest, only magic missles and direct damage spells, which is of course still very good.

I think i always field a slann and priest, but you need some hitting power as well, so you're almost obligated to take a scar vet to, at this point you are around 700 points.

But we are getting side tracked, wandering deliberations defo gonna take that more!

For added fun take a book of ashur and tetto to be able to reliably 1 dice 6 out of 8 spells. I will add that the one time I did this I 2 diced a wyssans and miscast.. . Leading to a slaan in the warp and my templeguard decimated.
I guess the dice gods don't take kindly to this sort of cheese
