AoS NEW *rumor*

I sold my army almost two years ago, promising myself I wouldn't return to the game until the Seraphon became an elite army again and we got some new model support. The last battletome fulfilled the first obligation and this Kroak might just summon me back to the star cities and put my space marines on hold. What are the odds we'll receive any other model updates alongside Kroak? If we don't get any updated battleline I may have to turn to third parties.
 
It is unlikely we will receive any updated models alongside him. However, I have to imagine he's the first of what is to come down the road...
 
GW have just re-commited to Seraphon by updating Kroak and including us in advancing the setting for once (ostensibly).

I doubt there’s any battleline to come this time around; if we’re lucky it may be a dual Slann kit.
But I now don’t worry that Saurus won’t come one day.

Or they just give him halfway decent stats and nothing else. Same warscroll but now with say 12 wounds, a vaguely decent melee profile that isn't just azeryite force barrier), maybe a range attack or two that are fluffed to be magical. Probably already increases his costs by a 100 points, even if it's mostly useless as he'l still be used the exact same way he currently is in that case.

Plenty of ways to technically buff him that are still effectivly nerfs :p
 
Its painfully obvious there are two rules writing teams at GW and one writes strong books and the other writes trash. our current book was written by the good rules team. if we get a new book it may be written by the bad rules team. I dont want to suck again. ive been dealing with weak lizardmen books for 15 years. i want to stay strong for a while yet.

There's a running joke right now that the Bin guy is in vacation.
Mayhap he stays that way for a bit. Lol.

But in all seriousness, I just want model updates, the time is great as is and we have a lot of tools to use. Kroak getting a power up is going to just make him that much more of a utility piece. Hopefully.

I'm really looking forward to this weekend and preorder time now.

Both dok and lumineth got new rules in broken realms with new books following closely behind. its possible the same may happen to us.

That seems wildly farfetched considering the drastically different state our book is in vs those two.

Idoneth, cities, stormcast, fec, and obr all had new rules in BR but didn't get new books.

Feels a little odd to be clamoring over a new book when ours isn't even a year old and obviously not 1/5th done like lumineths was.
 
meh, a new book is unlikely. But a new super-powered kroak does open up possibilities for the regular slann & almost mandates changes to the guard (and warden). Might as well fix some of the other issues while they're at it; make rippers relevant, fix the troglodon, update the more useless coalesced traits etc. It wouldn't be that farfetched to get some updates. And for a new completly new book, honestly, it wouldn't even be that much of a surpirse; GW's update schedule is wonky at the best of times.

Also, have there been any similar big named hero releases like this that didn't coincide with a bigger update? A new tome might be unlikely, but just releasing a super fancy new model like this with nothing else also seems rather weird.
 
@Putzfrau , it was more if a "if they do" not a "I hope they do"

There are plenty of other factions that could use some tidying up and fixing. We are in a really decent state, and at worst this will require us to have two books instead of one. Unless of course you don't need the new Battalion and in which case we just use the App for Kroak.

Ah gotcha gotcha. That's my mistake! I'm always a fan of new stuff so we will see ;)

Fantastic model, I think it will get the Starborne keyword and change the Temple Guard rule. Coalesced and Guard +16 Wounds
(God treatment) is heavy
