It admittedly has a different aesthetic to it, so it will come down to whether or not I can adequately pull off the paint job to unify the unit.

Is it the NIGHTBRINGER itself? Given it looks similar to the K'daai and you sold most of your Necrons recently, except for your C'Tan Shards which you decided to keep, that'd be my bet.

Although I might start off with the Deceiver model first as I already have my Nightbringer model painted (admittedly poorly). Might as well paint an unpainted model first!

He'd certainly work well as a K'daai if you separate him from the scarabs (I think the scarabs are separate from the model itself if you buy a new one). I am going to base a Slann conversion on him at some point as I wanted my Slann to be an ancient reptilian spirit that may or may not be a minor Old One that was awoken by my Lizardmen.

Indeed it is!
in the current lore (going since some editions), this is a shard of the C'Tan deity named Nightbringer.
Billions of yeras ago, the Necrons were losing the war against the Old Ones, so they made a pact with the C'Tan, godlike beings that were enemies of the Old Ones, but they failed to read the fine prints and the Necrons were turned into terminators.
They won the war at the cost of their souls and humanity (?), and given that also the C'Tan were weakened by the conflict, the Necrons enacted their vengeance upon them, "killing" the C'Tan and enslaving their remains.
 
It looks to me like the Chaos Dwarfs always try to (over)compensate for their lack of length in extra large war gear and hats :p

That reminds me. I need to find myself a dwarf in full armor, with dragon-face helm for a Torg character I will probably never get to play.
