Hey all!

The purpose of this thread is to generate discussion around designing/redesigning our warscrolls, whether they be from AoS, Forge World, Old World, or Total War. I'll be designing these following a few pillars & reason:
  1. I'll be focusing on them from a GW perspective (no warscroll splitting, despite how badly I want to)
  2. Warscrolls must fit a role in your army
  3. Warscrolls must be fun to use! (Not just for competitive use)
  4. Warscrolls must make sense from a consumer buying models perspective
  5. Warscrolls must be consistent with the rest of our army & subfactions.
Why do this?
  1. It's fun
  2. While I like a lot of our warscrolls, some have design flaws that prohibit optimal use, whether from a competitive or casual perspective.
  3. Some of our warscrolls also are a bit strange in terms of what the model is and what is does on the table. I'd like to make some models more in line with how they are supposed to feel.
Vote as you please, and I'll tackle them based off # of votes and community feedback. I'm going to kick the thread off with one I created earlier, the Ancient Salamander

Design thoughts:
Screens like a Basti, but is far more fragile. Synergizes well in TL with +2 wounds, -1 damage, and extra jaw attacks. Lack of keywords means it takes less buffs, so it's designed to stand on its own more then other Seraphon monsters. Leader of the Pack covers Hunting Packs biggest weakness of low bravery, so you'll be able to take hunting pack themed armies.
Concerns:
The 18" range and lack of artillery keyword means it could cause a lot of headaches for opponents, and may be an auto include. Also, being a behemoth mode means it's going to be an easy snipe, so it's risk/reward factor is higher then a Basti with solar engine.

I voted for 2 things.

But, the trooper needing an update the most is:

Venerable Skinks (the ones equipped with bows)

The things I voted for are the Bastilodon with the snake machine and Jungle Swarms. The first needs to be the mobile spawning portal for the second. Also Summon Swarm needs to be a cantrip any vanilla skink priest can fire off.

I'd love for the Saurus, especially the warriors, but also the guard and knights, to be reworked to be more like their fluff and be massive killing machines.

I personally like the Slann as is, but I added it to see if anyone else feels the same. (Personally, I feel like the issue lies more in Lord Kroak, but that's my opinion).

My suggestion for an Easy fix. Remove slann keyword from kroak. Give him a new keyword Slann spirit. Now he no longer counts as a slann general for cp, no longer can trade spell for cp, no longer allows summoning near him, and no longer has guard that will make him unkillable for people. He is there 100% purely for magic phase dominance and mortal wound output. If you want to do summons and things like that you have to take a slann or both.

I voted for everything except Slann and Kroak, because I think it would be fun to see what you come up with :)

How about making a new warscroll for the Skink Cold One Cavalry?

There might be an old thread about skinks on cold ones/horned ones. https://www.lustria-online.com/threads/conversion-ideas-i-drawed-something.16089/ I might have instigated it.

There was a drawing ^ involved.

And there are assorted ideas for stats in the thread from several people.

Alright folks let me inform yall why skinks can't be cold one riders. The lore states that cold ones can't be broken by skinks in fact here's the quote from 8th Ed whfb
Certain saurus may be spawned with the instinctive ability to tame and ride Cold Ones. Perhaps the normally vicious Cold Ones recognize a similar cold-blooded cunning in these Saurus. These Saurus form into units of Cold One Riders and serve as shock cavalry

Well, they were Horned Ones, not regular Cold Ones, so they're supposed to be smarter so maybe they bonded better with the Skinks because of that. They even had official models:

Regiments of Renown are something I wish were still a thing, along with Red-Crested Skinks and Horned Ones for an elite cavalry option :)

Ark of Sotek v1

Points: 220

Design thoughts:
The Ark of Sotek doesn't have a role in our current book while all of our other monsters do. I wanted to create something that could fight hordes and give Seraphon a more objective presence monster, so this new Ark is similar to our old one but instead borrows from the Stegadon and one of our hero abilities. I originally was going to also make the Ark be able to target nearby friendly and non-friendly models, letting it either buff bravery or grant additional speed to nearby friendly units, but shied away from it as I felt it may be too much. The new Ark is similar to our old one but has an additional 2" range, horde breaking, debuffing, and retains the same capacity to hurt single entities. The idea here is that the Ark can sit on an objective and make it hard to peel off, while damaging & debuffing nearby enemy units.

Concerns:
10" range means you'll have to hug the Basti and you still may only get 1-2 enemy units at most. The 6+ MW is very weak, but I didn't want to give it 5+ or else it's just a better version of the Stegadon flamethrowers. As mentioned before, I looked into having the Ark of Sotek buffing Seraphon or Skinks units, but had a hard time not making something broken or stepping on the toes of our heroes. A big issue currently though is that the Basti is really slow, so it's threat range is really low. Not oging to lie, this loadout is a bit tricky to design, but I think this is a step in the right direction. Let me know what you think.
