GW News: LAS VEGAS OPEN 2025

Good point. The cost gap between Forge World and GW has closed quite significantly over the past few years. There used to exist quite a disparity between the two, but GW prices have skyrocketed over the last decade.

It's just too bad that GW's prices have been going up rather than Forgeworld's going down :P

I am hoping more in a faction revealed, as when they announced Kislev.

That would be nice, but given that its models will be made by Forge World I’m not going to be particularly excited by it.

Edit: It’s about Bretonnia:
https://www.warhammer-community.com...orld-your-first-look-at-the-map-of-bretonnia/

As you can see, GW are definitely going to bring Bretonnia back, which is great, and even though it’s definitely going to be set in an ‘earlier era’, it’s not especially early because Louen’s active as ‘Louen Orcslayer’.

Double Edit: It;s set 300 years before the 8th Edition setting, as according to Sedge on EEFL, Louen Orcslayer was a different king to Louen Leoncoeur (must read more on Bretonnian lore):
Sedge from EEFL said:
the Bret king is Louen Orcslayer, who was king around 300 years before the current Louen Leoncoeur.

The only question is, will the Bretonnians return in the form of their old plastics, or, Lady forbid, in Forge World resin?

Well that didn't actually give much information beyond "bretonnia is a thing that exists"

It didn’t, that’s true, but at least we know for certain that Bretonnia is coming back in some form, rather than the game being all about the boring Empire. Hope you’re reading this @Warden!

Seeing Bretonnia is interesting. Maybe I've been influenced by the LO forums, or maybe I'm just sad that Brets disappeared when AoS arrived, but I have a bit of a soft spot for them. So, it's fun to see this map. But, as @Canas said, it's not much more than "Hey, it exists".

The only question is, will the Bretonnians return in the form of their old plastics, or, Lady forbid, in Forge World resin?
I have to imagine that it's all new (probably resin) sculpts.

You know, as much as I like seeing the development of the TOW, I can't help but feel it now relates to one of my other loves, Star Wars. TOW is shaping up to be "nostalgia porn", kind of like Rogue One or the Mandalorian. GW knows that bringing back the Old World tugs on the heartstrings/nostalgia of the "old" fanbase. It will likely be successful just because earlier fans want to read familiar lore, see familiar sites and play familiar armies.

Obviously, just like both of the SW properties I've mentioned, the longevity of TOW will rest on it's execution (and gameplay/rules for TOW).

More heraldry!!!! :joyful::joyful::joyful:

That was my favorite part of the old Bretonnia book. They are different than the old book... I wonder if the "setting" of the Old World is a different time period? Or more of an alternate reality?

Doesn't really say much, but I am glad they are painting up new concept art. Very much inspired by the great work done in Total War Warhammer I think!

Nothing too exciting.

With everything seemingly playing out in the Old World (by which I'm not referring to the "world that was" but rather Warhammer Europe), do you think Lizardmen will play a part at all?

I'll be honost, I'm a lot less interested in the new lore for the The Old World release then how the game is going to be designed to play.

+1

This is pretty much it for me. Armies being brought back on an AoS basis doesn't mean anything to me.

They need to start answering up on what they meant with the whole "Everything comes around again.... even squares" teaser.

I wonder if the "setting" of the Old World is a different time period?
It's supposed to be a different time period, not sure what it was but they explained it in one of their earlier posts about it. Like 500 years before the setting of the original warhammer or a 1000 or whatever it was.

. TOW is shaping up to be "nostalgia porn", kind of like Rogue One or the Mandalorian.

Nostalgia and quality are 2 different things.... but if the quality of ToW is the same as these examples, I'm already sold. :p

yeah, which is good, but it's not exactly huge news

Didn't they already indicate in their earliest press-releases that all the old factions would be returning in one form or another? With a handfull of new ones (like kislev) getting actual development this time around?

In all honesty, it didn't contain anything that I didn't already know or had assumed would happen.

If it will stay at the 'Bretonnia is a thing' it will mean we will be able to dust off the models we have so proudly displayed in our hobby rooms ;)

Bit it's true there is a lot more to explain and reveal about the Old World.

Grrr, Imrahil
