Tutorial Getting the most from your Start collecting Seraphon box.

Just chiming in to thank Crowsfoot and other contributors for this thread. It's been good fun following and building on the ideas everyone's listed.. makes the SC box a super good value option!

I'll post some photos once I've painted up what I've created ..

We all know the SC box is good value but can we make it better value, I think so and hopefully here I will show you how.

Everything used will come from the SC box, minimal conversion skills needed only extra things you will need are

1 120mm oval base
1 40mm round base
Green stuff or similar modelling putty

This tutorial is based around building the Carnasour with the scar vet rider and the Troglodon Oracle not being used on the Troglodon.

So in the box you get the following usable units,

10 Warriors (2 spare)
5 Knights (3 spare)
1 Carnosaur or Troglodon

After this tutorial you will have the following,

10 Warriors
5 Knights
1 Carnosaur with Scarvet rider
1 Troglodon
1 Astrolith Bearer
1 Oldblood on foot
1 Sunblood
1 Scarvet on Coldone (you could make 3)

I can see your face your all thinking how is that possible, well dive in and find out. ;)

Hello, I'm doing the tutorial and I don't understand how to do the oldblood and the scarvet on carnosaur. The body of the scravet uses the same parts as the oldblood...
Can someone help me to understand how to do it?
Thank you in advance.

Hi Lucas, all is explained in the first post:
"Again very simple this one, standard warrior with Saurus Knight champions head, Mace weapon in right hand and use the spare Carny top head piece as his shield, shoulder armour from the warriors sprue."

You need to simply sacrifice one of your standard Saurus warriors body and make a Sunblood/Oldblood on foot. The remaining parts from the original Oldblood are not enough and will be useless with the standard Saurus Warriors body.

Below is how I've done it.

Though part of what you say is true, you could use the arms, legs, head and chest of the Old blood to build from with greenstuff.
I am still thinking of doing so with mine.

Grrr, Imrahil

True, I've left the greenstuff part out as OP did not used it either on the Sunblood/Oldblood. Although, it would be possible.

Hey folks- first of all, Happy New Year!

I bought a used Lizard army waaaaay back in 2013, and I'm trying to maximize my models. Unfortunately, the army came with the TROG built-up completely, and the Carno bits on sprue.

Any ideas for how to do "hide" the majority of the Carno, but still have it gameable? Maybe have it erupting out of the jungle? Any thoughts/ ideas welcome-- thank you!

Hello and welcome aboard!

yeah, a troglodon with spare parts is easier to build, given the amphibious part that helps with the use of a pool as base.
but a carno...

option a) erupting from a jungle is a possibility

option b) go to ebay for some cheap bits.

Thank you, glad to be here! Hadn't thought of Ebay, but that's def. an option... Or maybe I can cut up some dinosaur toys and see what happens!

Welcome along!

A difficult thing for sure.
You will not be the only obe searching for those parts.
I have my second kit build as a full Trog (before they were trashed in the new Battletome) Ans have the same spare parts.
I was thinking use them in 2 portals(one head and one tail) but this will probably not count as playable...

Good luck if you plan to use a toy and keep me posted if you start working on it, curious to see how it turns out ;)

Grrr, Imrahil
I am not sure if it still playable

Thank you! Having looked at my model a bit more, I think I might saw off the head of the Trog (using a hobby saw) and replace it with the Carno head. The fin is on the body as well, but maybe if I carefully trim the fin back I can get the Saurus throne to fit snugly. Then, I'd use the Trog head I removed to do the Trog swimming conversion haha. Whenever I get around to it, I will post pics! :)

Just wanted to say thanks for this extremely helpful guide and thread. I'm just getting started and kitbashing some extra heroes will really help my army go further. I've also tried making a scar-vet on cold one and an eternity warden, there seems to be a lot you can do with just a few extra bits in this army.

Great tutorial. If I follow the conversions though, does that mean I won't have the parts to maker a drummer and standard bearer for my Saurus Warriors?

The Lizardmen/Seraphon kits are still fairly old. So you get 12 Saurus Warriors in the Start Collecting. That will give you 10 models for a unit (7 regular, 1 drummer, 1 standard, 1 alpha) and two extra models for conversions.

Greetings!

I am not an Age of Sigmar player, I just randomly came upon this from a YouTube video by Brian's Hobby Space.
However, this reminds me of the glory days of Warhammer 40.000 third edition, when we would convert everything from the (by then) new plastic Ork boxed set.

So I love the creativity and ingenuity shown in this thread. But I have a question. Has anyone tried, or think it is possible to convert some spare Cold Ones of the Saurus Knights into Kroxigors?
