well it was a bit of a conversation between @NIGHTBRINGER and me, that tends to be eh rather off-topic :p Really not the weirdest thing we've discussed.

As do I - I didn’t know he had been actively banned by now, but given he was a bit of a nutcase and had troll-level ethical views I’m certainly not going to lose any sleep over it.

To be fair we on this forum are extremely lucky - of all the members that have signed up over the years, we’ve only had one problematic person appear. Long may it continue! :)

thats probably due to our community being very troll resistant by nature. wargaming is fairly niche so if you know about it you probably take part in it. that and our hobby requires a lot of patience meaning we deal with trolls much better then most. so in order for us to attract a troll they would need to be a AoS player that doesn't mind playing the looooooong game and isn't just a "that guy" a rare breed of troll indeed.
for the most part we just get idiots and meemers, both of which are much more mundane.

The only thing I'll add is the fact that Warhammer and the Games Workshop games also demand a certain level of intelligence to play, which also tends to weed out people with troll tendencies as (let's be honest) they tend to be idiots who don't really understand what they're talking about.

Like that guy who started talking recently on the forum about this racist communist or something that @LizardWizard did total smackdown on.

Pretty sure that if we did a poll, you'd find a much higher level of IQ... But that's the matter for a Warhammer census (which would actually be pretty cool to do I think, but anyways)

O there's plenty of idiots & trolls that are smart.

Probably has more to do with hobbies like this having a relativly small community. Trolling doesn't work very well if within moments the entire community knows you and just collectivly ignores you.

I tend to agree here - the Warhammer community does have its fair share of idiots (I certainly knew one at University who was a right bastard), and places like DakkaDakka have had a reputation for bullying in the past, but here we do have a small and tightly-knitted community that gets to know any new people pretty quickly - like the online Warhammer version of a traditional English village, and I do maintain that we are lucky that we are such an innately friendly community, who can quickly use their like buttons to vote against any of questionable behaviour.

It seems as if I have been uncommonly lucky with who I have been playing against! So fair enough.

you have no idea. i haven't gotten any jerks but i have 3 or so players that are just sooooo dumb. one of them thought every thing in our old book was broken, and i mean every thing he thought old bastiladons broke the game(and no they where not in thunder quake). he was playing new iron jaws for goodness sake

But let's face it, the ratio of things for which you could be executed for heresy in 40K number in the MILLIONS...

It's honestly surprising that the inquisition hasn't, by itself, wiped out humanity completely aside from a couple of Space Marine Chapters (Ultramarines for one, maybe a couple of others).

You could do a funny skit about that actually... :D
