8th Ed. The BEST close combat units in all of Warhammer.

The next matchup is for @Lizards of Renown and @Lord Agragax of Lunaxoatl ...

Key rules in play:
  • Witch Elves: ASF, Frenzy, Murderous Prowess, Poisoned Attacks
  • Mournfang: Thick-skinned

The Witch Elves were always going to be hard-countered in this matchup. 2+ armour and a parry save negates S3 poisoned attacks any day of the week. The Mournfang pick up their very first Massive Victory!!

Of note, in terms of standings alone (because we all knew how this match was going to play out), this was the biggest "upset" of the tournament. The Witch Elves entered his match with +7 points (second place), while the Mournfang entered with -7 points (second last place). The Witch Elves drop back into 3rd place while the Mournfang have finally moved out of second last and are sitting comfortably tied for 13th place.

Can the Mournfang keep the momentum going and finish outside of the bottom 2? Are @Lizards of Renown and @Lord Agragax of Lunaxoatl satisfied with the results of the match?

"Thunder...

"Thunder...

"THUNDER...

"THUNDER CATS!!!!!

"HOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!"

'Nuff said.

Foretold by most of you, but it still hurts :( ;)

Nice going for the Mournfang.

Grrr, Imrahil

Match time. Beasts of Nurgle versus Soul Grinder.

Key rules in play:
  • Beasts of Nurgle: DoN, Daemonic, Poisoned Attacks, Random Attacks (D6+1), Regeneration
  • Soul Grinder: DoN, Daemonic, Caught by the Iron Claw, Natural Armour (4+)

The Beasts of Nurgle are hard to wound and the Soul Grinder is hard to wound, so we got the resultant pillow fight. However, the Beasts' poison was sufficient enough at getting damage through the Grinder's T7 to win the round of combat by 1 and force the Grinder to lose an additional wound due to Daemonic Instability.

With the loss the Soul Grinder's 2 fight win streak come to an end. At the opposite end of the spectrum, the Beasts of Nurgle are able to capture second place in the standings, one point ahead of the Executioners.

The Beasts are cruising along. I think the Demigryph Knights are their toughest remaining challenge. Do you think any other opponent can beat to Beasts (or keep them from achieving a massive victory)? If so, who?

I have a feeling that they may end up taking #2 spot.... I don't see any other threats to them from their remaining line-up and I think that the Witch Elves will have at least one massive loss (Demi-Gryphs) and possible also a loss to the Chaos Trolls with their regen saves...

@NIGHTBRINGER, when's the next fight?!? :D

We need to finish and crown the champions!

Don't tell me you're not looking forwards to doing the awards ceremony with the K'Daai at the top spot of the podium! ;)

I've been doing some woodworking for Christmas, that's kept me distracted.

Plus I may have found a troublesome anomaly. I have to check some numbers.

Hopefully soon! :)

Make sure you post the wood-working in the randomity thread!

An anomaly... Hmmm... Sounds a bit ominous... PM me if you want any help with working out the numbers.

Either way, looking forwards to the next installment.

I'll add it to my woodworking thread , but I shall have to do so after Christmas, as most of the works will be small little Christmas gifts for Mrs. NIGHTBRINGER. She doesn't check the forum very often... but one can never be too careful!

Nothing too serious. One of the matchups seems to flip winners depending on the starting points cost (unless I simply made an error, I have to check it through). I try to set up the matches at around 350-425 points, but even within this narrow range, the winner flipped based on the starting points cost being fixed to the upper or lower end. I have to check on two other very similar matchups to see if that is the case in those as well.

I could have easily have completed it by now, I've just been a little bit distracted.

Shouldn't have said that matey... you can never predict when she will appear on the forum, and the next time she does, if she reads this thread she'll almost certainly find out :p

She knows she is getting some wooden Christmas ornaments, I make her a few every year. As long as I don't post any pictures before Christmas, the forum will provide her with no new information. :)

Hahaha!

Seeing as you have referenced Thundercats on previous occasions in this thread, what did you think of the Thundercats wooden Christmas ornament I made a few years back?

That's fantastic! You should make an online store "Nightbringer's Notable Nick-nacks", I guarantee you'd get sales if you put yourself up on Etsy or something similar.
