What are you doing today hobbywise?

Last couple of days I dug up my first love of the hobby (thanks @DeathBringer125 for awakening the flame ;) )
Lord of the Rings strategy battle gaming army of Gondor. I've been fixing broken models and rebasing them, because 17 year old me had no clue of what I was doing.

I found my old Gondor in flames book and realized I, back in the days, sold my copy of the rules manual...
... since I was eyeballing the Battle companies book for a while I decided to take the leap and ordered me 3 new books(Rules manual, Armies of Lord of the Rings and the Battle Companies)

a lot to read once they come in :)

I was wondering if your name was based on an interest in Lord of the Rings ;)

Nice to see another Middle Earth player on the forum, but the Strategy Battle Game has gone downhill from what it originally was thanks to the warband army selection format being so horribly restrictive. Back in the good days all you needed was a hero for your general and then you could take whatever else you wanted, now you have to keep on buying a hero for every 6-18 Warriors you have. At least with the new edition you can get Heroes of Legend that allow you to have up to 18 models in a warband compared to the previous two editions that had Warbands at a static size of 12, but I still by far prefer the pre-February 2012 army selection rules.

I had a bunch of time yesterday, so I tried to get some work done on a couple older projects. I finished the second 5 Oathmark wolfriders, went back and did another layer on the giant I had completed a couple weeks ago, and basecoated a second giant I picked up Saturday. (My two Reaper Bones giants look good, cost half of what a single giant from GW would cost, and are probably a bit more durable. And I finally have two giants to run with my Orc and Goblin army.)

Getting back in to the game :)

I read a reasonable amount of pages of these today. Planning a map based battle companies campaign with some of my own armies.... Sadly I will do this alone.

I also started some Small scenery to use for both LotR and AoS.
Pictures will come tomorrow.

Hereby. The long walls need an extra brick layer or two. The metal thing with toiletpaper is my first attempt at a scratchbuild tree. Not pva soaked yet.

Finished the first five Frostgrave knights. I will probably use them as a unit of linebreakers for Oathmark, and possibly for Basileans for Kings of War, if I ever get back to the game. Actually, among friends, I can probably use them as a unit of Greatswords for WHFB or AoS.

Not a whole lot going on during yet another quarantine period. Moved my display cabinet to a more advantageous location in my bachelor pad and started organizing my 2000pt Koatl's Claw list on one shelf.

As of right now the vast majority of my Salamanders collection is spread across 2 large carrying cases.

Not to be outdone, I've also simultaneously prepared for a production line of 20 more saurus and sorted the extra bits into trays, even if it's surrounded by a pile of shame.

Fortunately, it hasn't been all shuffling of models and parts. In a recent Forge World order, I bought Doctor Arachnos for Necromunda, and have since put the mad doctor together.
