Unfortunately it is missing a lot of relevant data like win percentages # of participants

Looks about right. I'd imagine DOK and Nurgle's position is just due to them not being hugely popular (for DOK) or running the best lists (for nurgle).

KO are so unique I think people will have to get used to playing against them, but i still think they are a top 3 book in the game.

I'm sorta surprised it was FoS that was so popular but i guess it makes sense since they can get alot of bodies cheap and all well supported.

It's the CA with a little of the extra first turn move sprinkled in. That CA just completely shuts down some armies and movement 11 on the first turn for all your skinks makes being given top of turn a lot easier to deal with.

I had completely forgot about as well. What does that first turn extra movement do for terradons. They must be able to cover the entire board turn one.

I expect the top 4 to be ko, dot, Seraphon and lumineth for a while because of shooting. Sons of Behemat isn't getting a lot of respect competitively, but they will wrecknhalf the armies in the game that can't deal with them. They are a stop gap army. They won't win events, but they will wreck your 4-1, 5-0 run when you don't prepare to kill 35 wound giants that can walk over you to always score on objectives. The top 4 can kill them easily. The others, not so much.

I am so tired of shooting meta. I hope, that new edition will give 40k-like lookout to minor support characters. There are too many easy ways to one-shot them nowdays.

I kinda miss the advanced chess. These days it feels like you are trading huge parts of your army every turn. Very few of my games are getting to turn 5 and people are typically tabled during turn 2 due to the insane damage output some of the competitive lists got. The shooting/magic meta certainly does no good in regards to this.

When I play with my “casual” friends that only play fun lists, AoS becomes a completely different game and we are back to competing for objectives and not tabling each other turn 2.

Yeah, other than Orruks melee armies are at a real disadvantage right now due to how easy it is to pour out wounds and mortal wounds at range. I agree 100% that most games are decided by turn 2 or 3 right now, since you're practically guaranteed to wipe 1/4 to 1/3 of each other's armies per turn if you're playing super competitively.

This would go a long way to help with the problems. It's not terrible if your infantry block takes some damage turn 1, but when all your support heroes get to apply *maybe* 1 turn of buffs at most, it's a little much.

Funny how this once was viewed (imo with exxageration) as the primary fault of 40k.

100% this.

I second this aswel! Im really in doubt to bring Fangs next tournament or my newly paintend Carnosaurs. If Seraphon was the only shooting/magic dominant one, it be easy to just go saurus. But im afraid they will have a bad time vs KO and Lumineth

Of course, tournaments have been heavily hampered by Covid so another thing that would be nice to know, is the amount of "missing data" due to canceled events.

I mean aos can copy wh40k and make it so you can't target anything below 10 wounds if they have a screen. Magic yeah its still a issue to be instagibbed but hey it could help a little with the shooting round

I think sniping hero’s and such is not the problem. But the raw damage output of shooting shouldnt be that high. It makes the doubleturn even more impactfull

I know it is a dumb nurgle gimmick but what if we had a variant of disgustingly resilient?

I think our saurus heros would be alot better and not really overpowered if they all got a 5 or 6+ shrug, with a small points adjustment. It would help with the shooting meta a little, but i'm not sure how to fix shooting for other factions without ever hero having a shrug.

What if Heroes of 6 or fewer wounds (or something like that, basically heroes on foot) had a chance to shrug wounds from shooting onto nearby units. Like the old look out sir from Warhammer and heroes in units.

Kill 2 bird in one stone and make Saurus Guard ability go off on a 5+ for saurian or skink foot heros. So that now we have a reason to run them in slannless lists. CoS already have the Honoured Retinue ability which is basically what you've described.

That would work for us , and I'd welcome it. I was more looking for a system wide so solution.

I think then what you suggested eariler may work. A core rule that allows shooting to be passed off for small heros would be helpful.
