Are there any other Lego fans out there?

Definitely a guilty pleasure these days. I was a pretty avid Lego fan as a kid, bonding with a friend over it and even having a subscription to their magazine for a while. The first sets I got with the Lego brand on them were the Space Center ones (I also had a lot of Megablocks kits as well, including a naval destroyer, a fighter jet, and an M113 APC).

Amusingly enough, I have fonder memories of the company's own trademarked lines than the media tie-ins. Rock Raiders, Johnny Thunder, Alpha Squad, and Bionicle are the most prominent that come to mind, with Rock Raiders even having an RTS videogame based on the kits.

I've also had fun making bolters out of Duplo for pretty childish summer fun as a teen.

I also distinctly remember my father using the bog-standard lego bricks to help make rubber moulds for his resin-cast conversion side-business.

Crikey! Where are you going to find a big enough box to store that?

Also, was it a set or a custom build?

I'm moving house once the current situation passes and am planning a hobby room. This will sit pride of place.

It is a set build, and took 3 days! Stupidly expensive but was a treat to myself on retiring from the military.

Congrats! The Ultimate Collector Series sets are really nice, but especially expensive, so that’s certainly a treat and a half!

Also, is that Bargain Hunt I can see on the television in the background?

No. I don't have any Lego. There totally isn't a giant cabinet in my basement game room that I custom built to hold all of my sorting trays for Lego...

Okay, I lie. I've been collecting since I was 5. I am going to be 43 in less than a month. Classic Castle was my jam when I was a kid, until Pirates came along, then that was my jam. These days... well... I'm giving up doing model railroading as a hobby (you can buy an entire ARMY from GW for the cost of ONE model steam locomotive, and I'd rather have the army) and making my model railroad out of Lego now, so... yeah, that's a thing.

Also, if you didn't know:

Lego wargaming is a thing...

Lego wargaming sounds absolutely hilarious. I'm going to get the rulebook just for kicks.

Honestly, it depends on which group you're trying to follow on those boards. I gave up trying to keep track of it all years ago. Just know there are three or four key groups: Medievo (castle stuff), The Immortals War (Basic sci-fi setting currently ending 'Ragnablock' where the spess ork Brootalz destroy all the empires), and Anno (the spess group that doesn't want anything to do with Ragnablock and the Immortal Wars).
