Blog NIGHTBRINGER's Painting Blog - 1000 point (not so) year end Chaos Dwarfs challenge (78.2%)

Come on, give me some credit, I'm fairly certain I can get it completed within this decade :D

Haha, I certainly await the results with anticipation! :)

As for the Ogre Riders, perhaps you could use them as Chaos Ogres for your Warriors of Chaos? Festoon them with Tzeentchian mutations and they'd probably feel right at home

That's a good idea. I'll have to convert the legs from the riders pose to on foot, but it should work. Either that, or I could mount them on something else and use them as a unit filler.

Decided to start things off on the right hobby foot in 2021 with a New Years day painting challenge. @Mrs. NIGHTBRINGER and I will attempt to paint a model each, from start to finish.

On the left you'll see @Mrs. NIGHTBRINGER 's selection. She has chosen a Wood Elf Glade Rider musician. Damn pointy ears!!

For my selection, I wanted to paint the first of my Hobgoblins (from the new Mantic Goblins kit) that I got for Christmas, but I needed a new paint for my paint scheme. Unfortunately, we've been in lockdown over here since the 26th of December, so I haven't been able to go in-store to peruse their paint range. So instead, I've decided to embark on a greater challenge and attempt to complete a unit filler for said unit. As Hobgoblins are the lackeys of the Chaos Dwarfs, I thought it only fitting for them to acquire some lackeys of their own... Gnoblars! Not sure if I can finish it today... but I will try!

Smart. Love the fact that you guys are racing each other. Brilliant.

It is not a race! A fun day painting together. No competition... only encouragement, progress and fun! :)

No point in racing, I'm admittedly a slower painter.

Ah. Even better. Nice one.

I'm still trying to ease the wife into WFB... She's super smart so I might be able to get her going from a challenge aspect as she is SUPER competitive.

Unfortunately, neither of us are painting inclined... :(

Ah well, I'll stick to the poetry and story competitions for now.

Here is my finished model. I have to say I picked woodelves as an army but I hate painting flesh and eyes. Lol

Surprise, surprise... I won't be able to finish the whole thing. :( Lots of issues with the paint rubbing off as I'm painting. I'm not too sure as to why. The undercoat stays on, but the paint wears off of raised areas.

Got one guy done...

Here is the progress on the group... (one guy done, one guy well on the way to being done, and one guy base coated).

That's probably it for today.

I must say @NIGHTBRINGER started off on the back foot because he had to build his filler model before even starting to paint it, whereas @Mrs. NIGHTBRINGER got to start working on a Glade Rider that was fully assembled. Otherwise though, well done both of you, your models look great! The main thing was you got to have a lot of fun together, which is what Warhammer is all about, and as a couple it’s also a great way to keep your romantic bond strong! :)

That is most strange. I’ve seen this problem with Airfix figures because of the rubbery plastic, but have never seen this with GW models before. I could understand it if you were handling them directly while painting, but you’ve stuck them with blue tack onto paint pots as holders, which makes sense.

The only thing I could think of if I had been painting them would have been to stick them on the base first, paint them all up and then stick the sand down - you would then have the whole base to hold onto without need to touch any of the figures themselves!
