Currently, what strategies do you feel are able to go 5-0 at a tournament? I am starting to prepare for a GT that may still happen in a few months and would like to know what to focus on.

heavy skink lists or heavy saurus warrior/knight lists backed up by salamanders or teradons if you are good at positioning. a slann with 1-2 endless spells and no monsters

Dracothians tail with mass salamanders.
Fangs of Sotek with skinks out the ass. Probably a few big blobs regular skinks and a few big blobs of chameleon skinks.
Something (probably in dracothians tail) with Kroak+Slann and a billion bound endless spells.

All with the standard kroak/astrolith/balewind combo. The one that rises to the top will obviously depend on matchups and meta.

It'll be some form of powerful shooting and magic with cheap skink screens. It's the most obviously powerful thing in the book, its easy(ish) to play, it's easy to build, it's easy to paint.

I'm not super convinced a warrior/knight list can 5-0 but i'm going to keep trying it.

However, with all that said if you haven't gotten close to 5-0ing in past tournaments and don't play regularly with top players, i wouldn't worry about what list can 5-0 because you wont (only one person will after all ;)). Not sure what your GT experience is so, take that how you will. I've just found that having unrealistic expectations can really put a damper on the whole weekend. Playing 5 games in 2 days can be exhausting, especially so if you're playing an army you dont particularly like the style of because you thought it was the "best."

From a few of the table top simulator tournaments our top lists (5-0 or 4-1) all have
Kroak
Astrolith bearer
Skink starpriest
Skink priest
Bound geminids

This is a very solid core to start with. It seems that the rest of our army is pretty viable as I have seen a top list with a carnosaur and Saurus but most lists have Skinks. Salamanders are not required to do good.

Our strategy is use kroak plus salamanders/chameleon Skinks/terradons to kill key heros and then use our buffed troops vs their unsupported troops.

Would you mind posting the list and/or any information about the tournament? I've followed the TTS scene pretty closely and i've totally missed that list.

I agree with the kroak core. That seems like a strong foundation for a list. I appreciate the input so far guys. Ty.

I think this was the player/list but I think he played it in a different tourney with more players.

But I feel that it is a fine list as Carnasaurs and knights have reasonable power when you have the Kroak core doing a lot of the heavy lifting. 20 chameleon Skinks also help taking down characters as they deal about 6-7 MW the turn they pop out and that is about how many wounds most characters have.

So any lists, including ours, live and die by their characters and we have very strong ways of dealing MWs to characters in the first turn or two.

Very cool, i like the look of it.

While skinks are our best battleline I don't feel that they are so strong that other battleline are out of the question (except stegadons) I feel knights can do a good job taking and holding objectives.
