Tutorial Seraphon Overview (updated to AoS 3.0)

With endless spells like the prismatic palisade, what is the bonus of having it bound, rather than not; I just can't see the difference in the warscrolls. Cheers

Cogs have a bit of different rules, which make them worse actually. Other non-predatory BES has only one benifit - they are not affected by Drain Magic, which is, to be honest, is not an essential spell. I'd never take non-predatory BES, even if I have 10-20 spare free points - chance of a triumph is better.

Ok cheers

I don't know if anyone pointed this out, but upon reading the Sunblood's Warscroll, they choose an ENEMY unit and ALL saurus which attack this unit gain a +1 to wound rolls, including itself I reckon. So that's an insanely great blood and almost a must take for literally any list featuring a modicum of Saurus. If there's a key unit you want dead you can maneuver your Sunblood into position via a variety of movement abilities and then use this ability upon it and charge with all the relevant Saurus units you'd like.

yep he is solid it does make it hard er to get him in range and keep him alive but a sunblood and a oldblood on foot are in all my saurus lists

With the incoming GHB 2020, i will update the overview (surely for the whole part regarding realms artefacts and the Realmshape engine, but I'm pretty sure that thare will be other things to be addressed)

The GHB20 didnt change anything in regards to our Realmshaper Engine (as expected) but they made a specific mention that in cases like tournaments where terrain is preset, the faction terrain is then set up before rolling off for sides. Pretty much how it always was ruled by TOs, but nontheless nice to have it written down. TOs can obviously houserule anything.

We won't be able to set it up at all in this case.
Why? Terrain is pre-placed on the board. You place the RSE as the first thing when you approach the table. You do a roll-off for whoever picks side.

You have to place it 6" from the objectives, 6" from the edge and 6" from other terrain, which is almost impossible on most tables.

It has been changed to 6" from table edge, 3" from other terrain and 1" from objectives afaik.

As I understand it, these rules should combine restrictions, not override each other.

Any thoughts on artefacts now that the vast majority of realm artefacts are gone?

Are there any that stand out as better than the Seraphon BT ones? I'm thinking maybe the Predator's Torc from Ghyran on a Carnosaur, only to make it more consistent to actually get into combat, might be more efficient than one of the Saurus relics if you were going to take one of those, or only putting a relic on a skink priest otherwise.

Yeah, i need time to put some work into those, but the Torc is probably the best one.

The Poisoned Skinks Cloud

40 Skinks + 1 skink Starpriest + 1 Skink priest (240 + 190 pts)
40-skinks unit (with boltspitters to hit at 16” and shield) will do 80 attacks: the priest will take them to a respectable 4+ save and “to hit 4+”; nat. 6s to wound will deal MWs tnx to the Starpriest and cast Hands of Glory to reroll 1s.
On average you will roll 47 “to wounds”, delivering 8 MW (plus normal damage).
Play them as Starborne Fangs of Sotek and the enemy will be terrified by the prospect of charging them, because they will do mortal wounds again AND the charge will fail 50%.
Play them as Coalesced Shadowstrike battalion and those 80 shots will hit at 3+ (rerolling 1s), for an average of 10-11 MWs.

I think you could add to this that if the unit is boltsplitters and celestite club, then they could charge in to combat with these buffs after shooting. Add the Stegadon ability to give them +1 attack on melee and now you have up to 120 attacks (basically as many as you can get into range) hitting on 3+ (rerolling 1s) and giving a MW on a wound roll of 6 in addition to the regular wound. So I think that's an additional 15ish MWs. Shoot and charge and that's 25 MW's on average if I'm doing the math right.

first of all, welcome aboard, and tnx for the contribution! :)

well, that's certainly a thing with some really nice potential… but after all, i don't pretend to have discovered all the possibilities. ;)

TBH, i'm not a fan of skinks with no shield. The difference between save 5+ and save 6+ is not a small one.
