^o0^ Well it can be, but I was actually quoting the line from Alice in Wonderland (Lewis Carroll), which in turn was based on an old song about the fighting between England and Scotland...

Batman the Animated Series references Alice in Wonderland a lot because the Batman comics reference Alice in Wonderland a lot and BTAS is based on the comics.

So yes, the BTAS reference is based on a comic reference which is based on Alice and Wonderland which is based on a poem/song sung in real world UK which is based on the history and heraldry of the nations of the UK.

Much how the movie 300 is based on a comic book which is based on a fictional English account of the battle which is based on off a Greek play which is based off a propaganda retelling of the battle which is based off of real battle.

It's a play on words based on the double meaning of the term "aged well". Often the term "aged well" is applied to a person, thing or even an idea that is still good, relevant, etc. today despite the passage of time. For example:
  • Tom Cruise has aged well
  • The Shawshank Redemption or T2 have aged well
  • The idea to invest in streaming services (as opposed to video rental outlets) has aged well

In the case of the meme, the thing that is described as "aging well" is literally a well that has aged. In a nutshell the meme is saying that the aged well has aged well.
