Tutorial Seraphon List for Battletome 2.o

In the sense of the lists in this topic I think it was meant as tournament lists having less exploitable weaknesses than the competitive ones.
Tournament is better better than competitive. I need to take the time to retune and reevaluate the rankings and list. FAQ changed some things.

I guess, the ranking is:

- Tournament;
- Competitive;
- Semi-Competitive;
- Casual.
that sounds about right. most people seem to land in the semi_comp lvl, hobiests at casual and tournament players stay around competitive and jump up when at tournaments

I will add a ranking key to the main post. But it is as follows:
  • Tournament: Designed with the intent to win tournaments.
  • Competitive: Capable of winning events, but may suffer some key weaknesses vs top list.
  • Semi-Competitive: Meta Dependent. Has major weaknesses vs the top list. But, too capable to be considered casual.
  • Casual: A list made to fit lore, a theme, ect and not made to be game competitive.

I guess it might be important to note, if there is anyone completely new to the hobby, that tournament lists might make some casual players in your local game store wary of playing you. Having a fun build and then being smashed to bits in first turn by an alphastrike (blitzkrieg) tournament army isn't exactly a fun time. :) Expectations gotta match before you play.

Absolutely!

The hobby is about having fun. The most enjoyable games I have had of AoS were when both myself and my opponent were having a blast. Some were round five of tournaments to decide first place at a GT and some were playing with a 9yo kid who just got into the hobby.

Make sure you and your opponent have similar expectations of the game. The reason I make causal list as well as tournament list is for this very purpose. It is also fair to expect both yourself and your opponent to be gracious when winning or losing. Nothing sucks the fun out of a victory like a sour opponent. I try to always be mindful of that when on the back foot.

A bit of hard learned advice. If you have an opponent who is either an ungracious victor or loser then wait a day or two. Bring up how their attitude during the previous game impacted your enjoyment. Ask them to be mindful of your feelings in future games. If they get defensive or are generally unperceptive them just don't play them when possible. Definitely don't bring up their behavior in the moment :D

It could be also very nice, if you could rank every list's competitiveness with 5 or 10-point scale. Like, 4/5 competitive, and so on.

That is something I plan to get around to doing in the tactical section that follows after the list. I plan to do a strengths/weakness and general list evaluation and play guide. At least for any of the Tournament or Competitive list.

Currently waiting to get some more games under my belt with the new Battletome. The pandemic has put a damper on playtesting.

Hey @LizardWizard did two 500 point games on Tabletop Simulator lately. One with @TheCrazyKhorneGuy and one with @LordBaconBane . This was my list I used and won both times.

Allegiance: Seraphon
- Constellation: Koatl's Claw

Leaders
Saurus Sunblood (130)
- General
- Command Trait: Dominant Predator
- Artefact: Eviscerating Blade

Battleline
5 x Saurus Knights (100)
- Spears
10 x Saurus Warriors (90)
- Clubs

Units
4 x Salamander Hunting Pack (80)
4 x Salamander Hunting Pack (80)

Total: 480 / 500
Extra Command Points: 0
Allies: 0 / 200
Wounds: 39
Any possible improvements? Or tactics with it. Also what list would you recommend at 500 points.

Gratz on the Wins!. I still need to play around with TTS more. Keeping Skinks upright has been very frustrating. LOL. I will have to add you guys on steam at somepoint :D

Thanks! Also I've noticed map is a big part of model issues. If models keep flipping it's probably a terrain glitch. Also btw you can use the bag object to store lists for future games. Make a bag (in objects section last category) fill it with your list, then hit T on it (or right click) and hit save.

Question @LizardWizard would you happen to know a good 500 point KO list?
I would run this:

Allegiance: Kharadron Overlords
- Sky Port: None
- Mortal Realm: Ghur

Kharadron Code:
- Artycle: Settle The Grudges
- Amendment: Always Take What You Are Owed
- Footnote: There's No Trading With Some People

Leaders:
Aether-Khemist
(90)
- General
- Command Trait: A Nose for Gold
- Artefact: Gryph-feather Charm

Battleline:
10 x Arkanaut Company (90)
- 1x Skypikes
- 1x Light Skyhooks
- 1x Aethermatic Volley Guns
10 x Arkanaut Company (90)
- 1x Skypikes
- 1x Light Skyhooks
- 1x Aethermatic Volley Guns

Units:
6 x Skywardens (200)
- 1x Grapnel Launchers

Total: 470 / 500
Extra Command Points: 0
Allies: 0 / 200
Wounds: 37

I am gonna have to check the wording on Spell in a Bottle when I get home. KO might be able to bring Bound Endless Spells :D

In that list you sent for KO would it be worth it to use spell in a bottle and grab suffocating gravetide bound for 30? Also I know I've had alot of questions and such today but if you don't mind what would be a nice 500 point Tzeentch list?

Yep, I would take Spell in a Bottle.

Perhaps this for DoT:

Allegiance: Tzeentch
- Change Coven: Hosts Duplicitous

(240)
- General
- Command Trait: Will of the Phantom Lord
- Artefact: Brand of the Spirit Daemon

Battleline:
10 x Kairic Acolytes (100)
- 8x Cursed Blade & Arcanite Shield
- 2x Cursed Glaives

20 x Chaos Marauders (150)
- Axes & Shields

Total: 490 / 500
Extra Command Points: 0
Allies: 0 / 200
Wounds: 35

Choose Pink Horros for the Guant Summoner's Book of Profane Secrets.

Or

Allegiance: Tzeentch
- Change Coven: Hosts Duplicitous

Leaders:
Magister
(100)
- General
- Command Trait: Will of the Phantom Lord
- Artefact: Brand of the Spirit Daemon

Battleline:
10 x Pink Horrors of Tzeentch (200)
10 x Pink Horrors of Tzeentch (200)

Saurus Oldblood on Carnosaur
(250)
- General
- Command Trait: Prime Warbeast
- Artefact: Blade of Realities

Engine of the Gods (260)
- Artefact: Aetherquartz Brooch
Skink Starpriest (120)

- Spell: Celestial Harmony

Battleline:
20 x Saurus Warriors (180)

Bastiladon (220)
- Weapon: Solar Engine

Battalions:
Sunclaw Temple-host
(140)
Thunderquake Temple-host (150)

Endless Spells / Terrain / CPs:
Extra Command Point
(50)

Total: 2000 / 2000
Extra Command Points: 3
Allies: 0 / 400
Wounds: 110

Only 3 drops. 5 (6 with The Great Drake buff) jaw attacks at -2 rend for the Carnosaur. Lots of Bastiladon shooting with 4 CP on your first turn or All Out Defense.

Drop or move Atherquartz if you want to take Sacred Stegadon Helm/Feath Cloack on the EotGs to gain a second behemoth who is comfortable in combat.

One alteration to consider is dropping the Carnosaur in favor of an Oldblood on Foot or Sunblood while making the EotGs your general. This would allow more Saurus Warriors.

A major weakness of the list is that you are relying on Bastiladon shooting to accomplish most of the work. I think there were be games where this list is hot and doing great things. There will also be match ups where it fizzles hard.
