AoS Starting Seraphon with Start Collecting Skinks

Hi community. Nice to have an army related forum. Here s my issue.

We are going to start a campaign in our club. It’s meant to stay a new army, so our first round has a points value of 500.
I bought the start collecting skinks.
Because my other army is ogors/Beastclaws I’m mostly interested in the Starborne way playing Seraphon.
Well I’m struggling with my list because for me it makes no sense. The start collecting skinks doesn’t fit well in both, coalesced and Starborne. Every time a mechanic doesn’t apply because of a missing Slann or Saurus.
A Slann and 2 more packs of skinks are on the way.
Maybe someone has any advice regarding the list starting with 500p. also how to “work” with the Starborne. Because like I mentioned I usually run into my enemy with my monsters and that’s it.
Is a Slann worth at 500p or overcost? Does it make sense to go Starborne at 500p?

I don't have any experience with playing with the new battletome (yet).
What I do know is that Skinks are not the heavy hitters you have as Beastclaw Raiders. Their more a unit to screen your priest or Bastilodon. Slann is a very good addition to it, extra Skinks make of good and fast shooters.

Others might have more tactics-advice for you

Right. And this is exactly what I intended to do in the campaign. More of a sneaky and clever moving, shooting and magic strategy
Do you think the Slann is to expensive for 500p? Better of using him after 1000!?

I mean with the SCB you’re at 490 points.... it may not be the best list but it’s a 500 point list after that adding the Slann and more skins you can bumb it up to 990 and or remove the terra/ripper for a endless spell of your choice ,

Running the Slann and starpriest in the back with the Bastiladon and a big units of skinks shooting from a distance protected by a few small unit of skinks ready to die for the cause lol will be replace every other turn by the Slann .....

Now I’m dreaming.... snap out of it boy!!

Well now my idea is to target the shadowstrike starhost at 1k with the Slann for summoning. And using the fangs of Sotek.
 
I would look to add a Regular Skink Priest and edditional Terradons. Once you have a unit of 6 Terradons it is worth bringing a Terradons Chief. Here are 3 Skink Themed List.

this is a lot. Thanks. So you would ignore the summoning? Since summoning only works with a Slann Oracle or astrolith. Or am I wrong?

Yep, Ignore the summoning. You want the 3" movement turn one. It makes the Terradons a lot scarier. If you want access to other Aretfacts then I recommend going without a subfaction. Coalesced is still viable for Skink list. I just hate their bravery mechanic. Scaly Skink and extra Jaw attacks on the Terradons aren't bad though.

One more thing. Why bolas on terradons and why no star bucklers on skinks? I assumed that to be the better way since the distance of the javelins.
 
Slann is absolutely devastating in a 500 point army, almost to the point of it being unfun for the opponent. teleport, use spells to kill opponents hero, (at 500 he prolly only has 1) and then have 7 wounds at 3+ save (because you teleported into terrain smartly) to survive one turn, if the oppoenent can even turn to him and get him in time. GG ez no re

maybe I try that. Just for fun. Add Purple sun and few skinks. Maybe sum terras or whatever.
