I mean, look at Ritual of the Damned. First, they mentioned it to be revealed on chistmas without showing anything particular except participating factions. Then they announced it on Christmas, showing off new models, fluff and just a bit of what kind of rules there would be. The latter looks very similar to seraphon announcement. At this stage they are showing the coolest thing they have - Lazarus for Dark Angels or Astrolithic Monolith for us.

Same with Aelves. They showed Teclis' shadow on Open Day and now they have showed models. If they want to sell something, if they want hype, they tease the coolest stuff instantly, not waiting till later.

I don't deny possibility of Endless Spells at all, because they showed only new models for StD, for example, and Endless spells were announced alongside BT prerorder. I don't deny possibility of super-secret surprise models, but this VERY unlikely.

It seems to me, we are indeed just a gap filler for AoS in February, before Lumineth is out.

On the other hand, it seems like our battletome was only at the stage of draft when GHB had been out. So, I we can really hope for a lot of new rules and redesigned Seraphon Lore (and they could come up with better name, couldn't they? Like Astromancy or Lore of the Stars or something? Just Lore of the Seraphon. Meh).
 
I still think we're getting endless spells and a hero, and will likely be boxed in with a new faction like Giants, or a preexisting one like Slaves (similar to how Gloomspite Gitz were boxed in with Sylvaneth, despite Gitz being updated in January_

IRRC, didn't the Gloomspite Gitz get a new hero in a 'vs' boxed set, new terrain, endless spells and a few new plastic kits? Were many of those teased leading up to their release? Seeing as how that's a lot, I'm sure they were but I can't recall exactly...

Some of those FB responses do sound a bit foreboding though...
 
they have a whole stock of old models that’s not being sold so why make new models when they can sell the old ones to new people? Betcha our rules are gonna be amazing and busted to promote people buying into the faction but the models will stay old to clear out stock.

Well most people are holding off on buying new models until the book comes out. I'm certainly not buying anything until I see that we're getting the book we deserve.

Funny, I read an article a few days ago mentioning how GW changed the rules in order to affect the meta and drive players to purchase specific models. The two mentioned in the article were the Chaplain Dreadnaught & the thunder-something cannon (think that's what they were, not a 40k player). Would really hate it if this was the case. (think the article was from Spikey Bits about GW holding the hobby hostage, or something like that. Damn SB and their click-bait articles, lol).

Agreed. To me the use of the word "tricks" in that FB response leans heavily in this direction.
 
I am not holding my breath for anything at this point (yeah sodium levels are high, fight me :p).

The more I think about it, the more I am convinced we will be worse off after the new Battletome. They will break all our Battalions, leaving maybe one - useable Battalions are just not a thing anymore and haven't been for some time. And they will break Ripperdactyls. A sprinkling of random buffs and nerfs to random units that will be nowhere near enough to make up for what we lost.

Net change = negative.

And no new models obviously.

The Battletome cover is interesting, looks like they took a TW:WH artwork and slapped it on an AoS battletome.
Fits their half-arsed approach to that topic (recolored versions of old old artworks for 8E 40k codizes is the norm, not sure about the track record for battletomes).
 
I’m a little interested in the seraphon lore even if I’m equally concerned about it, the idea of sub factions is interesting but it seems like it’s going to be related to how they’ve become less “real” and more like order daemons, a sliding scale of flesh to starlight with the coalesced as what the sunbloods are in current lore

Don't ever believe what Spikey Bits posts. Its all mishmash of hearsay from across the internet, speculation by forumites, and sometimes things they make up.

I'm still holding out hope for a new SC or Endless Spells.

Well, looks like no endless spells for us either. And this is where disappointmet hits me. Like, Khorne, who is literally god of anti-magic got his totally-not-endless-spells thing. As well as fyreslayers.

But Seraphon, who are literally made from magic, didn't get theirs. Phah.

Oh, this rules are better be good...
 
I know it’s very unlikely, but maybe we have new models and they’re not sharing them yet because they don’t want to distract people from the new Aelves. I know it’s too optimistic, but I’m not ready to give up hope yet :/

The liklihood that GW released rules to make a shitty finecast model everyone already had and a obscure forgeworld dread variant more popular is extremely small in my opinion.

just gotta be a little bit more patient
the faction focus can't be far and it will show us whether new things are incoming (a redesigned start collecting is higly unlikely but not impossible)

I am almost sure the Battletome and the pyramid are just a small preview. soon GW will show that we'll get also our own endless spells.

I could be wrong, of course.
 
Maybe they will release a Seraphon Warband for Warcry with a few updated models? That could be a possibility aswell. I will kitbash the everliving [bleep] out of that when it happens!

As for endless spells, would be nice, some dice too, im just a sucker for faction dice, loved the concept in flames of war with the neat little tin boxes. Even though the dice have been getting really ridicoulus and hard to read sometimes.

Finecast will be around for some time, apart from the all new armies every model line still has finecast models, maybe we see it go away when their new factory opens, and then there will be new models for every army.

Ive read somewhere that injection molds are really expensive, maybe from a buisness perspective it just isnt feasable to redo old armies since everyone already got so many miniatures and the sales return wouldnt be enough to justify it.
And maybe they still have to make up for the losses of WHFB.

New saurus + over power stats = Sell more saurus than never before. Then just make them playable in the next Erratas. That would be funny.

A plastic injection mold costs between $1,000 and $80,000. The mold's size, complexity, material, and type affect its price. However, a typical mold costs $12,000. if we assume a 40$ per box and a 50% profit after expenses(im lowballing it plastic is dirt cheep) that means they only have to sell 50-4000 typicly 600 boxes that is very doable. they would last forever as good models have great shelf life so once they made their munny back thats strait profit for the next 20 years
