Any thoughts on skaven/skaven players about?

Skaven are both heretical and glorious.

They got much weaker with the nerfs to Plague Monks though. I own a bunch of them that I use as a test army for people in my club to find out if their army can stand up to Skaven when they write lists for tournaments. Warpligthning Vortex is their biggest piece of tech. It should be in every Skaven list.

Death Frenzy and Dread Death Frenzy Stack, so that is a thing.

I am not a fan of the shooting Skaven armies. I have found Plague Monks and Clan Rats to be the most reliable builds.

Grey Seers on Screaming Bells are a must. At least bring one of them.
 
@Erta Wanderer did the math, and the plauge monks still have insane damage for a basic battleline unit of squishy bodies.
So the nerf was more of a "make the warscrolls user friendly".
All in all, they're still a really strong army that can basically gate-keep higher tiers of play. If you can't fight a Skaven army playing with some of their good stuff, you really don't have a chance beyond them (mileage may vary on this statement).

But yes. This is Heretical, and you shall be put to the stone to have your heart removed.
 
I mean, they lost a bunch of damage, when buffed you now will miss out on a minimum of 2 attacks. If you put all buffs on a unit you can lose out on 12 attacks per model. (all buffs being the charge bonus, plague furnace prayers, death frenzy, and dread death frenzy). So it is a significant nerf, but not enough to make them a bad unit. They are still great.

Edit: I did bad math, you would only miss out on 12 attacks per model not 16. I shouldn't have counter the full death frenzy attacks, just the ones lost to changes in warscroll.

they lost about 10-14 damage they still put out more damage for points then anything out side of witch elves
 
I play Skaven in Fantasy, so I’m guilty too (but come on, their models are great, why wouldn’t you if you’re not a die-hard Sotek supporter?).

Hmm, even though I’ve never played AoS with my rats, it might actually look as though I could make a pretty good list with what I have (especially as AoS Screaming Bells are so much cheaper in points than their Fantasy counterparts). That’ll make starting AoS with them 10 times cheaper...

skaven have good models across the board you could throw anything into a list and do ok
 
The army also has great personality. If you like fluff you really can't go wrong with them. They are pretty well stated. Their least efficient units are probably Storm Vermin, they are still a demonstrably good unit.

Hellpit Abominations are also undervalued. The have potential to shift even more into the meta as hordes of Mortek guards with 3+ rerolling become more common.

Yes-yes, Skaven-things are bad-bad heresy (even if they are far-far superior to other meat-things), I Y'ttar say-squeak...I scent-mean say-roar that any foul rat-things should be purged (that ought to get rid-rid of any rival-things.)

Though it has been a long time since i've actually played...still...go team Eshin!
