Funnily enough they do actually make the effort in Star Wars the Clone Wars and the other associates media of ensuring Anakin and General Grievous never do actually meet face to face before that point. Obi-wan and Grievous do lots of times, and Anakin and Grievous dogfight a couple of times, but that is actually genuinely their first proper meeting in universe

Because all those characters were killed and their bodies engulfed in the explosion. Playing on the fact that they were burnt to a crisp.


In actuality they would have more likely been vaporized.
