While waiting for update, I decided to start another wishlist topic, but this time all the way around. What are your greatest fears about upcoming battletome? My personal "nightmare" update will be like this:

- no new models, including endless spells and terrain;
- slann and kroak will be phased out, because they are resin;
- but hunting packs and saurus heroes would be left in;
- only 3 new "constellation battle traits";
- two of them are almost complete CnP of Fangs and Tail, but now with mandatory warlord traits, which were part of battalions earlier;
- only single spell lore and it is CnP from GHB;
- new prayers for Skink Priest are just his star rituals, but now they are 3 different prayers and you have to chose only one;
- all seraphon become real, so no more LoSaT and leadership drops to 6-8 across the board;
- battlions losing all their best traits (e.g. shadowstrike now only 2d6 movement and thunderquake is only heal);
- skinks, flyers, big dinos are nerfed to the ground;
- top serpahon lists will be 90-120 warriors supported by Oldbloods on Foot, Sunbloods, Eternity Wardens, Kroxigor and salamanders;
- no more summoning, because everything is real.

Of course, I'm exaggerating, but, in short, it is all about breaking balance and making us unfun to play with outdated miniatures. Personaly, I'm not a fan of saurus warriors as they are now. And I really like big dinos!
Also, I don't like seraphon not being real fluff-wise, but I really like how their etherial nature translates to the rules.

What about you?

that the scale of the protect will be to much for GW to want to deal with and we will go the way of so many before us and disappear from the world we all love so well fading from all memory
- top serpahon lists will be 90-120 warriors supported by Oldbloods on Foot, Sunbloods, Eternity Wardens, Kroxigor and salamanders;
i agree the rest would suck but why would this be a bad thing? all of those guys are awesome
My biggest fear is that LoSaT will be changed, weakened, or removed. My next biggest fear is that our summoning mechanic will be changed, weakened, or removed.
oh im sorry wizard im fairly shur that one or both of your greatest fears are almost surely going to take place

My biggest fear is losing aggressive wishlisting threads.
What will become of us?
We asked to bring tomb kings backs and looks like they are about to do, so no need to ask anymore.
What if seraphon really gets the well deserved update? Will there be anything else to complain about? I'm concerned.

Jokes aside, my fear is, as wizard said, army normalization. I really enjoy the two basic and unique mechanics of reliable telepleting and reliable summoning. It is just the mindset behind our warscrolls that makes many units unplayable.

slann and kroak will be phased out, because they are resin;
I don't see that. It would not make sense to phase out the Slanns while keeping the other resin models.

all seraphon become real, so no more LoSaT
Why would LoSaT not work with real Seraphon? It is influencing space and time to make them move.

top serpahon lists will be 90-120 warriors supported by Oldbloods on Foot, Sunbloods, Eternity Wardens, Kroxigor and salamanders;
That would be kinda bad but also exciting for me. I only own ~20 Saurus Warriors and 15 Guard.
I would like to use them though. I would be sad about the Skinks but it would finally make me paint and play Saurus.

Edit: oh I guess I misinterpreted this point. If it is ONLY what you posted then it would be bad. I don't want us to become a one dimensional army.

no more summoning, because everything is real.
Summoning doesn't have to be "making them out of thin air and memories". It can work the same gameplay wise but Lore-wise be just teleporting in. In fact GW has said before that _some_ of the summoning might have been this all along.

It isn't necessary based on possibilities. I don't really think they will go with radical changes both in lore and gameplay. And I'm pretty sure, that no models will be phased out, except, maybe, resin Oldblood. But cut-and-pasting lore from GHB and shifting heavily towards saurus hordes is really possible. I just wish, we will go FEC route, not Gloomspite one.

My personal dislike for Saurus, old heroes, kroxigor and salamaners is tied to the fact that they are old plastic sculpts or resin, hard to get or convert for me. As a whole, it is not bad, if they will become MVPs of battletome.

I very much disagree with @LizardWizard my biggest fears would be summoning and LoSaT staying exactly as they are, or worse GW leaning even more into them and making them even more of a crutch that'l ruin any attempt at making any other aspect of our army halfway decent.

In summary it'd be this though:
- Slann remains the only halfway effective general
- Summoning remains fairly boring & mostly a non-choice with > 90% of spellcasts being sacrificed.
- Our units remain comperativly weak as halfway decent units combined with our flexible and effective summoning would be too easy to abuse.
- Still no way to affect our summoning besides the slann. Resulting in it either being all or nothing as either you got a slann, or you don't.

Besides that
- No interesting spell lore
- No interesting prayers
- No interesting artifacts or traits keeping us reliant on realm artifacts
- Skink priest/starpriest remain passive units that do the 1 supportive ability and are otherwise useless.
- Starseer remains useless or at best becomes another variant of the priest/starpriest where it provides 1 basic spell/aura/buff but also useless besides that.
- Slann remains a mostly passive summoning bot, who teleports away if an enemy gets close
- Little to no synergy across our subraces. Saurus heroes only buff saurus. Skinks have no acces to significant buffs. Big dino's only when they happen to have a saurus on top.
- Due to our summoning focus saurus remain only viable as a horde of cannonfodder, despite them being supposed to be heavy infantry (or super heavy in the case of guard)

Basicly my biggest fear is that we just get what we currently have in the GHB, but slightly updated to ensure we're not that far behind. With maybe a neat new trick here or there, like an extra saurus buff or summoning works slightly more efficient. But the basic issues remain as they double down with the summoning crutch.

I definitely agree that saurus units and heroes are currently left in the dust when it comes to the meta, and I'd hate for them to be relegated to the dustbin permanently as a result.

My biggest fear is that seraphon get turned into a one-trick pony that can only be played in a very specific way - summoning skink spam with at least 240pts worth of paperweight to power it.

i doubt this will happen most books that have come out this year don't have this problem and the one that does isn't because there are no options it due to that choise being so much better

given how powerfull summoning is, and how the mechanic completly depends on 1 model, with little to no options for going heavy or light summoning I wouldn't be so sure about this. We're quite likely to end up in a situation where the only viable build becomes "slann spamming 2-3 different units".

That doesn't make it any less of a one-trick pony. In fact, it could be argued that such a choice isn't a choice at all if it's objectively that much better than the others.

HoS is very summon heavy reliant on one model (the keeper) and there are 4+ established lists it's verry doable espeshaly if our monsters get battle line
