Hi Guys!

First time poster so feel free to criticize this post if anything is amiss.

So on to my conundrum.
I have yet to play any bigger battles(1000pts+) with my scaly minions, but I feel very overwhelmed by having to remember all of my abilities if I would build a 2k list with more than one batttalion.
For example, I feel that casting/activating something in the hero phase that will make a difference in the shooting or charging phase later on will be hard for me to remember. And not even mentioning the movement phase where I might have 4-5 different auras on my leaders I have to consider!

I've seen the AOS reminders but it only shows which abilities make a difference in what phase, not where I need to consider them.

How do you guys handle this? Is it just a matter of playing more and remembering the times you forger your abilities?

Thanks in advance!

first of all welcome aboard! :)

AoS reminder is a great tool: the problem is (if i understand it correctly) is that you can use the abilities but you forget that the buffs granted by those abilities will enter the play in a later moment, so you forget to apply the buffs. Am I right?

first i cut out the chaff a lot of our abilities aren't helpful out side of spasific circumstances carnasaurs command ability does not help if you have no saurus so i don't think of it. second i have icons for diferent spells i have a marker that reminds me that i have starlight on a unit i also have a dile that keeps track of CSP and command points. third a lot of practice grind out your games and it will get easier to the point that i can remember my army and all of the armies that frequent my store

Welcome to Lustria.

I make my own personal cheat sheets for each army build I run. I would consider playing a few practice games to get a feel for the army. After that re-read all your rules. Anything that is an ahha moment from the reread is what belongs in your cheat sheet.

Almost :)
Might not have been as clear as I thought about that point.
My problem is that (especially in the movement phase) there are a lot of aura abilities and ranges that needs to be taken into consideration before they are even applied. So it feels like I need to have several conditions(more than I feel I can handle) in mind when I position my units.

Hope this makes more sense.

Absolutely yes.
But alas, that's a thing that really comes with experience.
My advice is to start with simple lists, that don't rely on many factors to synergize… in that way you will reduce the number of variables and you will become used to them.

That said, don't worry: the same goes for your opponent, and even when you will be a veteran, there will be always something that you are going to forget, only to find yourself at the end of the game realizing "woops… i totally forgot that thing!"

and remember you can measure at any time i mark my wholey within units so i know to measure as i move them

i do this all the time i have to be very harsh on my self so that i lern from it. my basic rule is if i forget it it doesn't happen no backsies

Hard lessons work.
I losed a tournament game because i forgot to mark the collected summoning ponts, and at a critical moment i forgot to sum the points of the whole 1st turn.
After that, i keep track of all of them.

I think another useful thing would be to create tokens for all of our main abilities and buffs... put them next to each model after you cast them.
I usually just write it on a piece of paper... though I wish I could find specific Seraphon tokens that don't cost a fortune.
A few items on etsy but ridiculous prices.

I ordered a Seraphon tracker that had VP CP and CCP on dials that looks like it will be pretty good, ill post when it comes in. honestly what we need is a cardboard punch out insert like Fyreslayers got, with each of their prayers and abilities on them, that can be placed near the unit affected by them

Yeah that looks pretty nice - tempted to pick on up.

I did buy a hole puncher and some coin capsules. Just need to figure our what to write on the tokens. Has anyone seen a fill list of abilities for Seraphon like: +1 hit, +1 save, Serpent Staff (extra wounds on 6)?
Guessing would be go through every single model/warscroll and write it down on to excel or something

Great thanks. Looks like I know what I'll be doing on my xmas leave time.. just need to find time and get cracking.
Might be able to print of circular tokens and use hole puncher.

When I get around to it - I'll post up a thread :)

So one of our Aussie big online retailers just posted on facebook that they have acquired a laser cutter and looking to take custom jobs.
I'll look into raising a request to get a set of tokens for Serpahon.

Looks like I need to sit down over the weekend and come up with an extensive list of all our abilities.. including generic ones.. like ran, mystic shield, +1 to hit/to wound, RR 1s etc etc.
