What are you doing today hobbywise?

Took a break from assembling cold ones and started to paint some snakes. Thank you, GW for caring about my burnout :)

Went to the LHS looking for a Bastiladon or some Terradons. They had: 2 boxes of Skinks (don't need any) and 2 boxes of Saurus Guard (don't want any at the moment). Guess I'll have to wait for my dino fix when my Stegadon from the GW direct sales site comes in a few days. Did manage to find a pair of old metal Skaven characters though! 5th edition sculpts of Ikit Claw and Deathmaster Sknitch! Truly, a happy day for Skaven shopping. Not so happy for my Seraphon army, but hey, mail-order Stegadon will be here Friday.

Kind of annoyed at how picked-over my LHS is looking lately. I'm trying to make a Cavalry-themed Seraphon army, and they have no dinosaurs for my skinks to ride! How impolite of them. ;)

So, run a special order with them instead of giving your cash to GW.

Eh, I'm happy at the moment. Stompers the Stegadon arrived in the mail today. Gonna make him into a Stegadon, and convert a Brachiosaurus into an Engine of the Gods like a certain someone else on the forum did. Only mine is gonna look goofy because my Brachiosaurus is a tad smaller than his.

Besides, I've been kind of having fun dredging up OOP Seraphon minis. Got a box with 5 more Skink Cavalry, 3 metal terradons, and a pair of salamanders on its way to me soon. :D

Tinkering with an idea for an alternate to a big sleepy frog. I like the idea of the Slaan, but I'm not a fan of the current (or previous) models. Kind of hoping we'll get a new sculpt if/when we get a new armybook.

In the meantime though, I was digging through alternate lizardman miniatures online when I had an epiphany. Took me about an hour to remember where I'd put something important, that I had actually purchased for one of the alternate Lizardmen army lists back in 6th(?) edition. Behold, Shadowrun's Feathered Serpent sculpt, circa 1993 (or thereabouts):

Once upon a time, you could bring a Coatl in an alternate Lizardmen army! I'd bought this because I love the sculpt, but being able to use it for WFB was a side benefit! I don't do tournaments and most of my local players are okay with proxies, so I'm going to put it together and use it as an alternative to a Slaan for a while!

That reminds me: I really should get back to finish painting the D&D bronze dragon mini I bought a while back.

Counting the loot! Got a package today!

This pic (all metal) back row: 2 Salamanders (newer sculpt), skink standard bearer (damaged, no standard), Saurus... champion? Newer sculpt, not sure what it is, but looks cool.
Middle row: Skink Priest with staff, Skink Chief, 3 Saurus Knights (metal, no mounts, missing one arm)
Front row: 5 Handlers

2 metal Terradons (? heads are weird, but I don't remember metal Ripperdactyls), 5 Cold Ones (one has a saddle, which I don't remember them ever having), 4 Skink Cavalry riders, 2 5th edition metal saurus with spears, 5th edition Saurus Guard drummer and standard, and on the far left is a Standard Bearer of some kind, I suspect newer sculpt (but still metal) Saurus Guard.

I also got another metal Terradon with rider, still in the blister pack! Huzzah loot! :D

I started on painting 2 Cold one's, got the taste of those going. I'll be taking them, along with their knightely riders, with me to work for the next couple of weeks.
I hope to putt some painting in inbetween work ;)

Gr, Imrahil

Bought another Corvus Cabal kit the other day from the GW in San Diego, along with a box of Tzaangors to cannibalize for conversions, some basic hobby supplies (didn't pack any from home), and the new Warcry supplement. Spent the better part of my last day in port building the Corvus Cabal, first focusing on cabalists with spears and then some fun with tzaangor parts.

Deciding whether I want to get a Hive Tyrant or the Beastgrave box, that toy shop I went to a while ago and scored the cheap Skaven has them reduced, the Hive Tyrant being £29.99 and Beastgrave being £37.99 now. Then I wonder if they will release the Beastgrave armies from the boxset again down the line.

My vote is for Hive Tyrant - Hive Tyrants are pretty much a necessity in a Tyranid army unless you're playing a really small-scale game (in which case a Prime would suffice). Trust me, I've been collecting Tyranids since Christmas 2010 and know that a Hive Tyrant is certainly one of the most resilient synapse creature choices as well as being a killer in melee ;)
