Time of Legends would be fantastic. Any era. But standard static setting prior to End Times is great as well.
honestly, i am expecting to find out that it isn't the old world.. but rather "the new old world", with Sigmar and Co trying to ressurect the dead old world or something. perhaps using seraphon memory magic to summon a copy.. which will of course mean that they'll change tons of stuff, add the Sigmarines to the army lists, etc.
Since the "Time of Legends" is leading the way in terms of the poll results, let's explore it a bit more deeply. Specifically, let's see if we can collectively come up with 10 or more specific events that GW could feature as a rotating backdrop for the Time of Legends. To get us started here are a couple of suggestions...
- First Chaos invasion
- The Sundering
- The War of the Beard
- The Rise of Nagash
- Skaven incursion into Lustria and the Rise of Sotek
- Sigmar and the creation of the Empire
- The evolution/creation of the Chaos Dwarfs (too insignificant?)
What else could be used? Do you disagree with any of the above?
The evolution/creation of the Chaos Dwarfs (too insignificant?)
I know how much you love your Chaos Dwarfs, but I’m not sure if anyone other than Chaos Dwarf (and possibly Dwarf) players would be interested in that one (basically the Dwarf version of the Horus Heresy). If that was included as a major part of the storyline with its own boxed game and everything, you could also get away with stuff like the Ogres’ war with the Sky-Titans, which, while interesting enough to those who collect the individual armies they are about, don’t affect many other races in the Warhammer world.
Yes, especially at the beginning, every "scenario" should be able to involge a certain number of factions.
Who was around at that time?the first Chaos invasion is massive so there would be plenty of opportunities for many armies.
"the brand new old world", with Sigmar and Co ... they'll change tons of stuff, add the Sigmarines to the army lists, etc.
I'd like it to be before or around the time that Archaeon invaded the first time, tried to take Middenheim, and failed, only to get his butt kicked by Grimgor Ironhide.Lots of fun characters, most of the armies we know and love, and a slew of weird chaos.
What era would be the one before any of the major RETCONs happened?
Question: when is Warhammer Total War pegged in on the great master Olde World timeline?
What era does it portray?
Would you say that it is roughly the same time frame as 8th edition WFB or is one ahead of the other? Not a specific time as such, but closest to a couple years after the coronation of Karl Franz I think

Awesome! Thanks for that; I've always wondered about the time frame of TWW.Short answer: Yes
I'd say so, though it could be a bit later I guess.
Karl Franz is made Emperor in 2502.
Archaon is marked as the everchosen in 2519, but maybe he is not actually the everchosen yet in TWW2 since Azhag seems to die in 2515 and he is quite alive in game, so if the timeline of 8th WFB and TWW2 are to be set at the same time, TWW2 needs to be set between 2502 and 2515.
I do however think they are just loosely basing it on this time period, so Archaon is actually the everchosen, karl franz is a quite new emperor and Azhag is not dead, so yes roughly, 13 years isn't much in the warhammer world.
Still, the new Bretonnian lord is about 500 years old according to lore I think, so they are taking some creative liberties, so exact dates probably can't be relied upon to date the game exactly.
