I may have to try that out...i was fiddling with the idea of making the howdah platforms into giant galaxy maps...
 
Coming back to the forum after a few months off I’ve missed this entire thread so far, just want to pop in to compliment your creativity. You are clearly bursting with ideas for lore and kitbashes and it will be a treat to see what you come up with next.

First and foremost, welcome back! I love this forum and meeting those in it, thanks for popping in!

And thank you :) my lore for the army has changed a bit (I have fluff posts somewhere in the fluff area) but Its a lot of fun thinking of things and researching if it'd work/make sense and then building upon it. One day I hope to connect it all fully

As for the kitbashes, man its so fun! I wish I got into this so long ago lol The Thunderlizard especially has been a lot of fun and the community at large has been very helpful and supportive, especially with helping me create some rules for it for AOS

Only been at it for about 5 or so months and I'm really looking forward to growing and showing more of whatever I do. Its really great to have a creative outlet again whether painting or writing, I sometimes feel I over share hahaha

Hopefully Ill play a game sometime!

A backwards progression look at my wip astrolith banner :) Im having a lot of fun with it and although I am planning to have this Old Blood coming out of a resin portal...its becoming far more tempting to make this into a large galaxy piece/banner

My two cents is that while all your color schemes look good, the best of them is that fire and smoke one, that looks killer.
As for the banner, I think the resin portal with the old blood coming out isn't needed, just the galaxy idea is gonna look better AND be easier to pull off.
I think your idea about portals and stuff coming out of them would be well suited to like, terrain pieces, and my concern would be making the model too top heavy and fragile putting all that stuff right at the top of it.

Took your advice to heart and ended up going with the galaxy and it indeed does look beautiful. I need to clean up some splatter marks on the idols but it looks awesome. Debating now if I leave it or lightly paint constellations. Im going to change the yellow to sometging else, and I forgot that blue shades/contrasts turn green/jade when used on gold paint...lol

As for the Saurus, yes! I love that "Fire & Smoke" themed one and I think I may make it my core theme when I get more warriors.

I love my idea of a bright vibrant army for Ghyran, but for Ghur I feel the fire & smoke theme (or smoke & fire? Hmm) would work super well and the other part of my narrative takes place in Ghur so I want to represent that also20191111_053214.jpg
 
The front to the banner is almost finished. Touch ups, maybe some more shades here or there, and random what have yous. Have started the back (old picture posted to remind yall what it looks like) but its much further from being finished.

For the back Ill be making it stone colored with the sides of the disc being gold. The middle idols and two trog reins im unsure of for colors as of now

I wanted to do something new with my Cold Ones and Knights but I had been struggling with ideas for them...truthfully most of them still arnt built. However with how much I liked my "Smoke & Fire" Saurus Warrior I decided to follow that track, and so far Im loving the result

My first attempt was with giving this Cold One that i massacred with new life. I think it came out pretty well! May still do some highlighting but with just rebasing, dry brushing and shading it looks worlds better

After that I decided to start this built Cold One and rider that has been sitting on my shelf for a few months now. Love how the Cold One has turned out, thought still unsure of what to do with his rider

So, I just realized I never posted my updated progress on Tlanextic!

I have finally gotten everything mostly worked out when it comes to the fitting of the platforms and the building of the base that the platforms rest on. I however now find myself wanting to make body armor for her of some sort rhat is more than just the neck and tail armor I had been planning. For this I am thinking of at some point buying some green stuff and trying to form/press some Carno Head Crests and using that to make scaled plate armor. Considering possibly trying to make my own armor like James Gerney did for his Dinotopia sauropod (pictured below) mock up that I found. I also want to give her tail a club/blade of some sort.

All in all it is going well, I need some better weather to prime the platforms themselves and then begin painting them. At the moment I am envisioning a stone base with gold trim. For the designs on the platforms I am going to make them different colors of red, blues, oranges, greens and purples on top of the stone color base. I then need to fit the gold chain I have to "tie down" the howdah to Tlanextic herself.

I am sure there are things I will find myself wanting to add/change as this goes on (such as possibly not keeping the Ancient Stegadon skull altar) but I am very happy with the progress so far! Thanks y'all for your support and C&C specifically with this project!

Was thinking about what defensive armor my Thunderlizard would have aside from the plate neck/tail armor and I always imagined some sort of club, spike, blade or combination on the tip/near tip of the tail for when she swings that powerful muscular tail.

You know, they are said to be made of Dread Saurian teeth and that the wood feeling is a lie!

Thank you lol I like how it is coming along. May paint it all gold and then have a blood effect on the tips

Decided to not use the plastic bit
