GW News: LAS VEGAS OPEN 2025

I doubt it.
I guess it might be a re-release of some classic WHFB stuff, and those need square bases

GW have re-released classic Fantasy stuff before for Warhammer Legends, and were quite happy to put those models on round bases.

Called it. Maybe.

An AoS Prequel game that uses square bases... nice.

The question is, though, how far back in time is the Prequel era going to be?

Also, given that they refer to the Horus Heresy, which still uses rules from the older editions of 40K, will they be going to the Fantasy Rules as the main port of call for inspiration for this Prequel game?

What's the complaint exactly?
That GW will infect WFB with AoS elements and further destroy the already dwindling 8th edition community. I just don't have faith that they will bring about a true "heart and soul" successor to WFB 8th ed.

I could be wrong, but that is the fear.

if it's still years off then the announcement seems a tad bit premature

I tend to believe we will have a release with points and rules for all oldhammer models / heroes, to play in AoS the battles of the oldworld.

I do believe @NIGHTBRINGER doesn't want GW to tarnish the purity of oldhammer with something AoS related.
EXACTLY.

I had finally accepted the death of the WFB world, and was enjoying an unsupported 8th edition. My anger for AoS had finally subsided. If GW were to knock this out of the park, that would be great, but there is too much of a risk that they infect it with SCE and other such nonsense.

8th edition felt like the "final edition" for WFB. I was only 4 army books away from completing the entire collection. Now they will be outdated by this new stuff.

The imagined threat is often greater than the actual one.

What "scares" me the most, is that behind all the rage and anger, I do feel the tiniest bit of hope. When tarnished, that hope will lead to more rage and anger! :bored:

Why couldn't the announcement been for a plastic Chaos War Mammoth on a giant square base?!?

yeah, but don't worry. They're talking about a wait of no less then 2 years.

I understand that fear but it's too early I think. I don't reckon they will add AoS stuff.

That's true. It still feels like impeding doom.

So any guesses... will the game incorporate AoS models as I fear they will or will they keep the Old World the Old World?

Also, why play a WFB without Tomb Kings when you could play one with Tomb Kings?

the hype would be too high!
I haven't bought many things from GW since 2015, but this would have been a day one purchase

I hope you are correct. However, from a business standpoint, I'd incorporate AoS stuff if I were them. Why not sell the same models to twice the consumer base?

it's 3+ years off speculation is pointles at this point
Speculation is the most popular past time of most Warhammer forums. No threads get as much attention as speculation/rumor threads.
