AoS Where to start with this

Hello, I wante to make a 1k army but without to many units ( to many would be like 60 models) I have sombody in my local group selling
Saurus Warriors (x16)
Saurus Riders (x10)
Can I make a nice/fun list with this? and what else would you advice ?

Or should I get Skinks and a couple big dinos ?

TL;DR What is a good 1k army with low model count?
 
a shadowstrike army works well at 1k and is still good at 2k also if you eventually get a bigger collection. thunderquake is also a good army at 2k tho. anther nice combo are a oldblood on carno with scar-vet on cold one

Get another 10 saurus riders, then a couple of scar vets (one on Cold One and one on Carnosaur); pick one or two Starpriests and you can field a passable Firelance Starhost. And you even save some points.

Shadowstrike Starhost is the strong of the two.

I dont know the Firelance one, but its like the Dracothion's Tail 1500points on the main list thread right? (probably without the slan master?) I really liked that one, can you share what you had in mind for 1k ?

I dont want to go with Ripperdactyls just yet because they are very expensive to get here, not even in second hand market I can find them or 3D print them.

Yes but of course that one includes a Slann, razordons and the points for the DT, which you won't need at 1000 pts (and if you don't have models to summon)

But all your answers made me think If this was actually usefull to buy or not.

Forgetting those units I mentioned above. If I was just starting, is there any good 1k list without ripperdactyls (nobody has them second hand and in stores here are very expensive). And not horde.
I thought the Knights would be more elite while the skinks would be more horde but it seems I was wrong so I rather ask the pros from scratch .

I see.
At this point, you need to focus firstly on battlelines.

Saurus warriors. Passable fighters but need support and hordes. Given your idea i would say to skip them.

Skinks. Incompetent fighter, even with horde bonuses their performances are poor .
In small units they are good obj grabbers and have a nice ability that helps them.
First choice as battleline if you pick certain battalions (shadowstrike...)

Saurus knights. Good obj grabbers and can put up some fight. More durable than skinks and with almost the same cost they are a nice unit.
Firs choice as battleline if you pick firelance dracothion's tail .

When buying seraphon you need to remember that one of our main strenght is the ability to summon units ... so even if you don't want to collect sauri and go toward skinks is always a good idea to have those warriors and those knights.

Anyway, we need casters... so as a minimum buy a starpriest and then a Slann.
ATM, the cheapest and strongest list at 1000.pts, IF you don't want hordes and cannot afford ripperdactyls , is saurus knights and firelance.
