Hi everyone! So...

As the title suggests i have some questions i would love your answers to! All help is really appritiated.

How would you run a shadowstrike list (optimized) for a 1k tournament?

Any general tips on how to play the list?

What units should i summon? I know it is situational. But some guidlines would be awesome!


I have 2 months to paint the whole list as the tournament starts then. I have played alot of sigmar before so i am not new to the game, just the army!

I have all skinks with spitters. Is it that much worse?

Yeah. It does require some good game knowledge to wield well. Most of it comes down to knowing which targets to send the Ripperdactyls into. As well as the correct time to do it. Basically you are looking to kill whatever unit is the linchpin of your opponent's forces. Ideally you want to hit units which you can fully wipe and then force your opponent to either turn back to deall with your Rippers or continue to harass your opponent.

The Skink Priest is looking for an enemy horde unit that he can charge and pop Betrayer's Crown on. He is also the Skink Hero that is part of the battalion. This is to gain the extra 2D6" of movement during deployment.

As far as Skink kits, the Jav and Shield isn't mandatory.

So the Priest with BT I am assuming is basically on a suicide mission? If he’s the Hero for Shadowstrike, wouldn’t you lose the rerolls from “The Trap Is Sprung” battalion?

rippers already reroll hits and wounds and skinks aren't ment to deal damage feel free to do the doom skink i have a lot of fun with him seeing a 40 man run from a single skink is really funny

Like @Erta Wanderer said, you would only be missing out on the reroll or 1's on the enemy's turn and for your Skinks. Also, if you hit the corner of the unit you can drastically reduce pile-ins. A 4+ also isn't alwful, but don't expect him survive more than 1 turn.

I liked the look of this list @LizardWizard ! Have you tried this out alot? Is it competitive?

So now I think of it there really is no reason to protect the Shadowstrike Hero when running Rippers as as you say their own rules trump the ones from the battalion! :D
not intierly droping outside of 3" is really good it's what makes this battalion so good

It is competitive. 1k matches generally revolve around being able to counter your opponent's jank of force them to deal with yours. It suffers against some horde units, such as Stabbas though. You also have to protect your Skink units until late game to allow you to maintain objectives.
