I award Killer Angel the Scolenex Cup for the cuddly wuddliest story.

Honorable mentions to "Kroxigor's Magic" and "Two Strengths"

People are welcome and encouraged to keep up commentary but I'm closing the poll and calling the election.

The winner by a wide margin "A Friend for Hard Times" written by Killer Angel. Congratuations to him and thank you to all nine writers for nine excellent pieces!

Story One: "The Polar Warpgate" by @DeathBringer125
Story Two: "Kroxigor's Magic" by @Paradoxical Pacifism
Story Three: "A Friend for Hard Times" by @Killer Angel
Story Four: "Got Your Gear" by @WhenTheSkinksMarch
Story Five: "The Coward's Weapon" by @thedarkfourth
Story Six: "Peals of Thunder" by @CalebTheNomad
Story Seven: "Two Strengths" by @Y'ttar Scaletail
Story Eight" "Tzlatoc and the Gate Warden" by @pendrake
Story Nine: "The Mythology of Ghur" by @Warden

Special thanks to CalebtheNomad for a very strong first entry!

Congrats to @Killer Angel for winning the contest twice in a row now! Have we ever had that before?

I’m honestly so pleased that my three favourite stories were three of the best entries - I voted for ‘A Friend for Hard Times’, ‘The Coward’s Weapon’ and ‘Kroxigor’s Magic’ which came first, second and joint third respectively - but all the stories were very well written as usual. Should have known that @Warden wrote ‘The Mythology of Ghur’ as he loves his in-universe written lore pieces, and I’m very impressed by the sequels @thedarkfourth and @pendrake wrote to previous short story contest entries of theirs.

I look forward to seeing what the next contest theme is in October (and hopefully I will actually enter next time :p)!

EDIT: @Scalenex, I don’t think you’ve awarded the Scalenex cup this contest yet!

Congrats to @Killer Angel for a fun story :) (I really loved the minor characters; they were done very well). I guess it's pretty cool that I somehow envisioned this theme roughly half a year prior, albeit with a Slann instead of a skink priest. Can't wait for the next one then - this one was enjoyable!

EDIT: @Scalenex, I don’t think you’ve awarded the Scalenex cup this contest yet!

The pieces were excellent this season, but I'm not sure any of them are dark enough to qualify for the Scalenex Cup this season. That's why I asked Scolenex to give his own award this cycle.

Sorry, don’t know what happened there with my memory. I’m surprised though that @Scalenex delegated the choosing of the theme to someone else.

Yup.

He was just short of ideas. ;)

Indeed.

Killer Angel may want to consider delegating the next contest theme to someone else, or not.
