Hello fellow Slanns!

I am preparing a great battle against the Skaven in a few days. They have a Grey Seer on a screaming bell, at least two full units of clan rats, and most likely, two claw lords, and two warlock engineers. There is the possibility of warp-fire thrower teams instead of warlocks, but we will see.

I am preparing to summon in an army to match this foul horde. Here is my planned force and plan:

Allegiance: Seraphon
- Mortal Realm: Not using

LEADERS:
Slann Starmaster
(260)
- General
- Command Trait : Great Rememberer
- Spell : Stellar Tempest
Saurus Astrolith Bearer (160)

Skink Starpriest (80)
- Spell : Walk between realms

Saurus Scar-Veteran on Cold One (100)
- Artefact : Blade of Realities

UNITS:
20 x Saurus Warriors (180)
- Spears
5 x Saurus Knights (80)
- Blades

BEHEMOTHS:
Troglodon
(140)

TOTAL: 1000/1000
EXTRA COMMAND POINTS: 0
WOUNDS: 66

The Plan

- This Skaven leader is notoriously aggressive. He will undoubtable attempt to reach my forces as fast as possible
- I will primarily be focused on casting spells
- I will use "Great Rememberer" to move around the field, picking my engagements, and casting spells at vulnerable points.
- Walk Between Realms will allow my Saurus Warriors to move over terrain (we expect many obstacles) and use the drum synergies to keep our distance
- Saurus Knights and Scar-Veteran will attempt to target either the Screaming Bell or weakened units
- The Troglodon will serve as a vassal to cast spells and provide support, especially with its bravery modification stacking with Saurus banners and a potential cast of Celestial Apotheosis.
- Astrolith will provide greater chance to cast spells, especially if I land the correct constellation.

What do you think of list fellow Slanns? I also considered bringing a powerful Stegadon with flame throwers to the battle, but I would need to rework the list.

Thank you.

You may want to put gryph-feather charm on your Slaan instead of using blade of realities, as your opponent will likely target your Slaan. If you’re not using realm artefacts, then putting incandescent rectrices on your Slaan is another good option.
Also, it is generally better to use clubs when you have 20 or less Saurus Warriors, but if you have spears already modelled then that’s fine.
Good luck in your battle!

Hi :D

I always play against Skaven and I think you should put on your list some Rippers or Razordons to clean the 80 clanrats that will surely use.
I don't know if the Saurus are the best choice but with STARLIGHT they can old objectifs (if he play with canon you are in troubles xd)
The knights.... i don't think they are going to kill some stuff, probably you should use them like a first wave (with Starlight) to get some time or grab objectifs...(With 5 knight I always make 3/4 wounds... and never get MW T-T)

I would personally play with a Shadowstrike Starhost, but in your list, you could swap the troglodon and Scar vet by 2*3 razzordons or just swap the troglodon by razzordons (you should summon Rippers and skinks). With the Astolith bearer I think It's enough range (24+8) to cast stellar against 40 clanrats xD - if you can put Balewind vortex is +6" and 1 more cast for summonig ^^. Stegadon is a good choice to, but 200 pts is complicated in 1k...

I would play Shadowstrike Starhost. Either of the two list depending on how daring you want to be.

Razordons and Ripperdactyls are your best options to chew through the Clanrats. 6 Rippers in a Shadowstrike Starhost should clear through one of the 40x Clanrats on their own. Or least they always have for me. If you bring the first list I posted then the Betrayer's Crown and 6 Razordons can greatly thin the other unit by half or more. You can almost certainly accomplish this turn one or two with very little your opponent can do to impede you.

If you want the Betrayer's Crown to pop turn one, then make the reg Skink Priest w/feathercloak your General and give him nimble. With the extra movement and Stealthy Advance he should be able to make a turn one charge.

At only 4 drops you will likely be able to dictate turn order. Make the Skaven Player go first and then cripple his Clanrats. With luck you will double turn him and then be able to send your surviving Rippers into the Screaming Bell.

Thanka for the tips fellow Slanns! I should have specified... I have no razordons and only 1 unit of Rippers worth :(

I can do either loadout, magnetized one.

Using one or two shooting Bastiladons isn't a bad idea. You want to fight his Clanrats at range if you only have 3 Rippers. You should definitely use the 3x Rippers you have. I wouldn't bother with the battalion though.

What all Seraphon models do you own? I don't want to build you a list that you can't field.

Slann
40 skinks
30 Saurus Warriors
5 knights
5 chameleon skinks
1 Scar veteran on Cold One
3 rippers
3 terradons
2 skink star priests
Trog
Two carnosaurs both loadouts
Engine of the Gods/Stegadon. Magnetized so only one.
Bastilidon, magnetized for loadouts.
1 Sunblood
1 Saurus Old Blood on foot
1 Salamander.

I think that is everything.

No endless spells though.

of The lists I have seen here, that one looks excellent. A carnosaur can have absurd effects on low bravery skaven and it can also wriggle around battleshock immunity stuff. I would definitely say use that army just based on the stuff you have.

While a lot of people see success with doppelgänger cloaks, you can attain a similar result with a screen of chaff or saurus knights. I would argue that an artifact that increases rend is a,ways helpful with an oldblood on carnosaur to help ensure maximum damage

Unfortunately screaming bell gives battleshock immunity:(

Were not running with mortal realms, just regular items.

Do you always recommend Doppelganger Cloak on carnosaurs or do you use other artifacts from time to time?

Anytime I have Rippers and a Behemoth I like to take the Doppelganger's Cloak. That way I am not forced to take the hit with either of the two units before they swing. Offensive artifacts can be awesome, but the OB Carno doesn't really need them.
