Hey everyone,
One of the lovely 40k players at the local shop recently bought and assembled an Ironjawz army which consists of Megaboss on Mawcrusha, some ardboys, gore-gruntas, and a warchanter. We agreed to do a friendly 1k battle over the weekend using the First Blood battleplan. I wanted to bring something unconventional, just for the funs. I'll post my list below.
Allegiance: Seraphon
Mortal Realm: None (easing him into the rules)
Leaders
Old Blood on Carnosaur (260)
- General
- Trait: Disciplined Fury
- Artefact: Blade of Realities
Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur (240)
- Celestite Warblade
Skink Starpriest (80)
Battleline
10 x Skinks (60)
- Boltspitters & Star Bucklers
10 x Skinks (60)
- Boltspitters & Star Bucklers
Units
3 x Terradon Riders (120)
- Starstrike Javelins
3 x Terradon Riders (120)
- Starstrike Javelins
1 x Salamander (40)
Endless Spells
1 x Quicksilver blades (20)
Total: 1000 / 1000
Extra Command Points: 1
Allies: 0 / 200
Wounds: 51
So what is the game plan?
The idea is to let him come to me but not to close. I want to try and get the first charge on his Maw Crusha to prevent him from dealing maximum damage to any of my units. I will first move up with my Terradons and drop their payload on the Maw Crusha. That averages to around 6~ mortal wounds on that 3+ save monster. + I'll have my Skink Starpriest targeting it with either arcane bolt or using Quicksilver blades to do some poking.
If I can get lucky enough to get the charge off on him, it will turn into a punching match of me trying to slay that Maw Crusha asap. If his Maw Crusha does charge, I'm hoping it will charge into my skinks as I'll use them as screens for my Carnosaurs.
The Salamander at range, I'm hoping, can get at least one hit off, and my Carnosaurs will buff each other to kill the Maw Crusha. If I can kill the Maw Crusha early and still have both my Carnosaurs, I think I should be able to win from there.
The idea with this is more or less is an early burst. If I can get that off, it should work, if not, I'll have fun trying it regardless. Let me know what you think!
