Indeed, looks great! What material did you use to make the snake statues?

Looks like the green floral foam again, @Warden uses that material quite often.

Spot on, the floral foam is cheap and plentiful, you just need to be careful when you cut/paint it so it doesn't flake off.

Oh very nice, I did consider going for that at one point since it seemed sturdy enough to do stuff with it, I suppose you might be able to even smoothen it or harden it by coating it with filler or some such as well! Thanks :)

Work has commenced on a new terrain project!

Jungle Rivers/ Swamps:

Also got a spawning pool and a random temple-base that I put together ages ago but never painted. All still very WIP.

And here are the water predators!

Little work has been done this week... but I was able to blend up the rivers a bit more. They need water effects next, and lots of jungle plants on the edges, and some tiny plants to look like lillypads I think.

Also got this guy in the mail and basecoated him up, going to make a great skink priest! My only complaint right now is the base is attached to his feet from the start... on the plus size it is a solid metal model.

I am in love with the skeleton body paint on that one gator, I am 100% stealing that idea at some point.

Also, good to know that floral foam is actually usable, I bought some from the craft store a few months ago but was scared off of using it because it was too flakey and ended up using XPS foam instead. Maybe I’ll give another shot at using it being a bit more careful.

Had to look up who Baron Samedi was and ended up going down a rabbit hole of Haitian lore!

Please do take the inspiration and run with it! As you already have seen, I took my own inspiration direct from James's voodoo skinks, a great looking army!

Jungle water terrain updates!

warden201810_rivers WIP 6.jpg

Took forever to get the lillypads attached. I am not entirely happy with the "water effects," and may have to go back and fix them later. For now they seem to work.

warden201810_rivers WIP 9.jpg

Gators also have lillypads, though the green makes them almost disappear into the water on their base! :lurking::lurking:

My swimming troglodon makes a special appearance:

The spawning pool turned out pretty good!

warden201810_rivers WIP 11.jpg

And so did the small pyramid, complete with some lilly pads in the little pool at the center. Shown here with my pirate gobbo and his henchmonkey:

...and speaking on monkeys, one of my ebay purchases showed up!

Future spider/howler monkeys for use in Frostgrave Ghost Archipelago, and/or Jungleheim! Test monkey:

Got these nine little dudes off of ebay, they are old cocktail monkeys!

Inspiration comes squarely from this picture, sadly I have lost the inspirational hobby blog link that it came from :sorry:

One more recent purchase, kind of on a whim, but a really :cool::cool: cool :cool::cool: looking dinosaur skull we saw at a pet store.

warden201810_dino skull.jpg

While definitely a mock t-rex or maybe allosaur skull, it could conceivably be a stand-in for a long-dead dread saurian skull. I may use it as a terrain piece in the future, or just as a awesome decoration for the game room!

Canal/river and swamp project is complete! Lots of pictures to share.

Smaller swamp with a snake, and my saurus scar veteran Yax Nuunayiin:

Troglodon going for a swim... glad it finally has a place to swim in!

Swamps:

Got a small frog on two of them, here is one:

Spawning pool next to the well I made ages ago when I first started making terrain!

Here is a small temple platform with a mirror pool at the top!

Here are some pics of the canal/river tiles! Set up along the full length of the playing table:

warden201811_canals and swamps 10.jpg

Along the short edge needs another shorter length to actually make it line up.

warden201811_canals and swamps 11.jpg

Next in store for water features are going to be curved tiles and intersections to allow the water to "turn" and branch off in different directions. And I gotta build bridges.

Also finished my swimming gators!

There is something hungry in the spawning pool...

Two gators face off against the Troglodon in the river:

Let me know what you think, any suggestions?

How do you make the water? Very cool!

Thanks!

The shiny sheen on the water was made using Woodland Scenics water effects. Not sure what the stuff is made out of, but it's getting old and I could have done a third coat.

Colors for the waters undercoat were inspired by pictures of jungle rivers I took from Xunantunich when I was there several years ago, and pics of other green jungle rivers.
