The Ultimate Childhood Thread

Just to let you know, I created this thread specifically for forumites to share their favourite childhood programmes and stuff, not to act as a battleground for forumites to vent their grievances against other people’s favourite shows. Sorry if I sound harsh but I just want to make this clear.

No insult intended (or received) my sense of humour doesn’t travel well through written word.
Four ways farm will always be your favourite no matter what I say.

Best show ever!
I beg to differ

As do I:

Not even close!

Not even close in your view, but in my view, the Last Airbender and Star Wars Rebels would be joint last.

And wow, I’m really surprised you put Star Wars Rebels above Raven and Merlin. The Clone Wars I agree is great (apart from Wesley Crusher remake Ahsoka), but I just felt Rebels was too much like a childrens’ rehash of the Original Trilogy, although this is just my view.

The Last Airbender was a brilliant show. Exquisite animation, well thought out story telling and top notch character development. In my opinion it is leagues above any of the other shows that either of you listed.

Rebels was okay (Thrawn was great in it), but The Clone Wars was better, especially towards the end of the series. I have seen maybe a season or so of Merlin and it was average. I have never seen Raven, so I can't comment on that.

The first season was a little young in places, but later seasons were much more mature. As for Merlin and Raven, I haven't really seen either, so I can't make comparisons

Star Trek TOS is about middling on my list. Not as good as the Next Generation or Deep Space Nine in my view, but there are some classic episodes like Mirror Mirror, Arena and the Trouble with Tribbles that I thoroughly enjoy.

Some great episodes! Also liked Balance of Terror (first time you meet the Romulans).

But a very valid point; though they are quite the classic most of the show hasn't aged well. Main saving grace is nostalgia.

I agree with you assessment, I loved both DS9 and TNG.

TNG is the best by a long shot.

Picard is the best captain, I agree with that, and Q, Data, Worf, Geordi and Chief O'Brien were great characters, but Deanna was meh, Beverly was pretty poor in comparison to Doctor Bashir and the Doctor from DS9 and Voyager respectively and Wesley was insufferable - when I saw him get kicked out of series 5 I was pretty happy to say the least. It wasn't the actor's fault by any means - it was poor writing that made the character annoying, pretty much the same with Ahsoka.

That is what I am currently watching. I saw a few disjointed episodes back in the day, but I've never seen it from start to finish. It's on Netflix, so I thought I would give it a go. I've been enjoying it thus far.

I agree with that character assessment.

I really enjoyed it when it came out on CBS Action over here in Britain - the Doctor stood out as the best character by far.

I have been watching cartoons all my life. Saturday mornings were my time. Bowls of cereal and a lot of mind numbing cartoons and shows. I have not included the general Disney, Wareber Bros and Hanna Barbera oldies, such as Donald duck, Looney Tunes, the Flintstones and Jetsons etc. But their 80's and 90's successors will be present. Some may be uniquely Canadian. One may be uniquely Calgarian. The following is not an exhaustive list but here are a few that I remember, and due to thread necro let's start here:
