GW News: LAS VEGAS OPEN 2025

In retrospect of the re-released dark elves and their old rules getting updated, i thought this was appropriate.

My god, it's the first time someone tells me Seraphon (Malekith's dragon) is a she!

Father forgive me, for I've been wrong for all my life.

P.S. Yeah, the Deathwatch guys are ridiculous.

What were you expecting?
I don't think I was expecting anything in particular. I just kind of hoped they'd have an alliance with Seraphon, because those look like pretty cool models and I could maybe justify picking some of them up if I was going to use them in a list. Absent being able to ally a few of them in with my Seraphon here and there, my only other option would be to buy the whole Idoneth Deepkin army! ;)

I guess you found your course of action

...not buy any, right?!

I'm beginning to understand why your wife limited your Warhammer spending. ;)
The difference is I actively seeking out deals instead of buying direct. 2 lizardmen armies for approx $200 total last year

Deals are great... but too much spending can still be had (not in reference to your situation, just speaking in general). Sometimes people spend even more overall because they are getting a "deal"

I am aware I spent too much. I'm working to fix that
As I said, I wasn't speaking of you specifically. Rather, it is a pattern I find to be especially widespread in this hobby. I've seen people piss away huge sums of money. The worst are those that buy a bunch of stuff... only to have something new catch their eye, leading them to sell what they previously purchased (at a fraction of what they paid for it) so they can buy the new shiny things.

Your situation is your own. Over-spending is only relevant when viewed through the lens of one's own personal income in conjunction with their other financial needs. One person may overspend by dropping $20 a week, while another might be well within their means to spend $300+ a week. Only you (and those close to you) can make that determination.

I'm aware. Self depreciation helps me learn from my mistakes and also cope with stress

Doesn’t anyone else agree that it’s BS that Idoneth can ally with and share a battalion with the foul slime known as Sylvaneth? I’m certainly not happy about it

I agree here. As much as I love this hobby, and as much as I am tempted to add yet more Tyranids to my army (in the form of the Toxicrene and the Hive Crone) I know there must be a limit to what I get for each army. I only ever make a purchase once in a long while and it’s usually one item. At the moment I have loads of stuff still to make so I won’t be buying anything new in a long time. Also I think my fantasy Dwarf and Lizardmen armies are nearly complete, so I probably won’t be getting that much more Dwarf or Lizardman stuff. I’m sure I told you about the disturbance in the Force I felt when I saw someone buy a whole Adeptus Custodes army straight away. He bought several boxes of Custodes, Trajan Valoris, the Codex, even the matching dice. Imagine if that chap was then attracted to a new release, like Idoneth, and sold all that Custodes stuff to get some Idoneth - his wallet would be the star of a horror film. Perhaps it could be called ‘Extraction’? ;)

Also if you just get things one at a time you’ll be able to keep on collecting for a lot longer than if you just bought your whole army at once.

I've done it loads of times, bought into 40k twice and sold the lot, sold Death and Grots, Orruks and now I have new Death and Ironjawz armies.

But I do limit my spending now, I look at it like this now, It's only a good deal if you were intending to buy it anyway, I stopped buying things just because they are cheap because you can always find a deal.

Why did you sell your old Death army and then buy a new one?

Because I'm an idiot

I've painted the new one the same as well :D

I got it in my head that Seraphon and Nurgle were enough but then thought having an army for each of the 4 alliances would be better, I'm not bothered I made money on both armies as my time painting them is my own and now I have a bigger and better Death army :p

I’m still busy getting and making stuff for my 8th Edition armies while GW sells units I’m interested in. It doesn’t help that University has been so busy that I’ve been unable to do any painting in a while.

I am REALLY tempted to start Fyreslayers but I’m not sure if it would be worth it as I don’t know any AoS players near me and the only source of players would be my local GW. They are magnificent minis though.
