8th Ed. Look what I found... a mini (more mini than usual) Slann!

Heating didn’t fix any of the warped bits?
It partly did, for the horns, chains and so on.
What it didn't fix: there are structures in the stone, like those tiny triangles and stlyized snake heads. And those were weird as well. Compared to other Slann models I have seen the recesses weren't deep enough on mine which made those fine structures hard to paint, and in some places the lines of those structures were bent.
Now that the Slann is finished it looks decent but to me it seems that the mould perhaps wasn't completely clean or the cooled it down too quickly, something like that.

Oh that is painful :( Yeah sometimes it just doesn't work out

I really dislike finecast. Sorry to hear that your Slann suffered from such problems.

In the end it turned out well so I am not too angry about it. In fact I only noticed comparing to other people's SLanns. First I thought "huh? Did I miss that detail?" but looked closely and noticed my Slann doesn't have that detail.

Do you need a throne with sharp detail? I think I have two extra metal ones

I got two slaan in a trade. One is on a decorated rubix cube that has been glued into place.

One is going to sit on a tornado
Put a skink up on one of them and convert him into Tetto'eko.

Here you go, that's the GW warmaster crested stegadon.
Could be something fun to convert, I don't think it would be too hard for any budding hobbyist.

That's a really cool looking model, would love to see a legit stegadon conversion with the newer plastic kit. I am guessing because of the "crests" the howdahs would have to go on the sides of the beastie.

I was thinking of doing something like this for my Golden Serpent entry back in the day. Then I settled on my Bronti entry.

Hate finecast with a passion. Painfully fragile, as expensive or even more so then their old metal counterparts, despite being much cheaper to produce and much less durable, and often with defects right out the gate. The savings not at least trickling down to us is what annoys me the most though. Downright miserly of them, though I guess that's no surprise with GW.

I agree with everything you said. Finecast has been a colossal blunder on the part of GW. At least they finally got the message and have done away with Finecast (in terms of new sculpts).

I happened to stumble upon the last and final Slann missing from my collection while browsing through a hobby store (and I could not resist), so...

IMG_0198.JPG

That brings my collection to:
  • current edition Slann
  • current edition Slann with Top Hat (wedding edition)
  • Venerable Lord Kroak
  • 5th edition Slann
  • Warmaster new style Slann
  • Warmaster old style Slann
  • Forge World Gamesday Limited Edition Slann
  • Norba Miniatures Slann

Of course, of all those Slann, I only have 1 painted! :D @Crowsfoot ;)

You paid $35 for that? Not that I'm complaining just curious

I did. A bit expensive for such a tiny little model, but it is exceedingly rare at this point (especially in new condition). Ebay is not a superior option as $15-$20 shipping usually makes it more expensive overall. I very seldom by Warhammer models since the drop of AoS.

Plus, it was the very last one I needed for a complete collection. The Slann are my favourite warhammer models of all time.
