Because KoW is so open, and the salamander fluff says there are multiple species within the race.......what do people think of using alternative lizardfolk Miniatures in the army? Like half dragons and snakemen?

Hmmm they are different species but they are similar but as long as they look like lizards in someway I think that would be cool.

Could work-as with most proxies the important factor for me is that units can be clearly and easily identified, without being confused for a different unit. The only real confusion I can see is that winged dragonmen would be assumed to represent a flying unit, but otherwise they're pretty similar in appearance to salamanders. Snake-people don't exist in Mantica, so little prospect for confusion there.

Warning : Snake people *might* in fact exists in Mantica, there are hints of possible secret (or not so secret) masters behind the Ophidian Empire, and the very name of the empire would seems to make snake people the most probable.

Of course, we also know that Mantic is/was not really sure what they wanted to do with Ophidia, so it's possible that evenif this was what they wanted to do at first that it might not be used in the final version when we finally get the Ophidian Army added to the game.

In any case, yes various scale/repilte humanoids might be mixed in an army as long as it's clear what each unit is.

For exemple models of smaller lizardmen or troglodytes from D&D might be used as Unblooded.

anyone seen any mayan terrain or mythical models, like quetzacotl?

I have seen a few examples of coatls/quetzacoatls before, nothing necessarily infantry sized as all are more monster sized.

One of the best examples I have seen from this site was found by @pendrake : the Sun Winged Coatl (thread link).

Another one I found more recently was done by a sculptor known as moonswift: a four winged creature called Kulkulkan (link to thread and WIP process)

And there is mine o_O... which doesn't blow the previous two out of the water as far as style points but was pretty fast to make! (link)

As far as more man-sized models go, I found a few examples of some snake minis that could be more "kulkulkanized" a bit with a liberal application of feathers:

THIS ONE was pretty dramatic, the serpent cultists are from gamezone, but the terrain is epic! Though it follows an Egyptian theme, that is easily remedied to change to something that looks more mesoamerican/kulkulkan:

Definately check out this link, the picture comes from Matakishi's Tea House, and they have tons more pictures of their Conan miniature projects. I really like their interchangeable terrain setups.

And some extra cultists, no link but pretty sure they are reaper or gamezone as well:

As far as terrain goes, the single best example for stuff having to do with Quetzacoatl has got to be the Temple of the Feathered Serpent at Teotihuacan, called the Pyramid of Quetzacoatl.

The pyramid is known for those giant stone feathered-serpent heads:

I think if you have a bunch of these things on a terrain piece you can't go wrong. Very much in the Lizardmen/Quetzacoatl/Kulkulkan theme. I bet these wouldn't be too hard to cast the first one in a mold and then make more.

Link to Mayan Art Thread, more pictures and a source added.
