Hi all, there's a tournament coming up in my local gw store and I'm trying to get a good list for it. The details are in the photo belowimage.pngSo far I'm thinking something along the lines of;
General:
Oldblood on carnosaur 320
Quicksilver
Tenacious

Jade battlemage 100
Amber battlemage 100
Skink starpriest 100
Saurus 100
Saurus 100
Chameleon skink 120
Salamamder 60

This list will be going for buffing the Carno to do some real damage with the double damage on 5/6s to wound with the Amber battlemages +1 and healing from the jade Mage.

Alternatively a fast attack army;
General:
Oldblood on carnosaur 320
Quicksilver
Tenacious
Scar vet on cold one 100
Scar vet on cold one 100
Jade battlemage 100
Saurus 100
Saurus 100
Chameleon skink 120
Salamamder 60

Going for fast attack with the extra attacks given to the scar vets.

Anyone have any input? Reckon I'm in the right direction or does anyone have an amazing list idea for this particular tournament that needs a single behemoth? Cheers Sam

I sense the incoming of Frostlords on Stonehorns and Ghoul Kings on Terrorgheists...

The store has ruled no forge world models for the tournament... The dread Saurian was my first pick

Or a whatsit [?] starts with a B, umm laser crystal... Bastilodon. Or a Bastilodon?
I find bastiladon has such a high fluff rate in my game, my only chance would be to buff him like crazy if I wanted to use him. For example

Starseer (for rerolls)
Battlemage Amber (+1 wound)
Skink chief (general +1 hit)
Astrolith bearer (rerolls to hit)

This may be my best bet... Hmmm thoughts

Any thoughts on what would be my best chance at countering these beasties?

At 1000 pts, you can field little things that can match the raw power of those behemoths.
Luckily, they cost a lot, so the rest of the army should be small in number (this is especially true for beastclaw).
Don't try to kill them, deal asap with the other units and win by points, while the monsters shred to pieces a part of your army... if you have a starpriest, target them with starlight, so the -1 to hit will reduce their effectiveness.
A Starseer could be helpful with rerolls.

What "little things" do you suggest bro? Like mass skinks/ Saurus? With a Carno and starseer + starpriest?

Those cursed monsters can count on solid saves and lots of special abilities (halve wounds, or ward saves).
There's no way out: to take down those things, you must concentrate all your power on them, in well coordinated attacks, and employing more points than those of said monsters (there are not 460 points of seraphon units that can take down 460 pts of frostlord on stonehorn).

A tactic could be to drown them under tons of attacks (shooting and/or shadowstrike), even with no rend, and then attack with a carno.
But a single turn won't suffice (barring exceptional luck)... because for example, with skinks and rippers, to take down a frostlord, on average you need to force saves for a potential of 80 wounds.

That's painful! I know there might be one stonehorn in the tournament. Also likely to be that Sylvaneth Arielle or whatever (saw a guy buying a sneaky model of her the other day for the tournament) haha

I really hope we get some love in the GH2!!! Seraphon are really cool but classic games workshop like making all its latest releases op haha
