AoS HELP army list against Flesh-eater Courts

i have some problems winning against a friend of mine who plays a Flesh-eater Courts army list and keeps spawning troopswith his heroes... i played a couple of games against him and i can't find a strategy to beat him: i tried using Chamaleon Skinks to kill his heroes but they don't seem to do much even a Shadowstrike Battalion wasn't enough to kill both of his heroes that spawn units... We played a couple 1500p games but mainly 2000p.

You have the right idea.

All of flesh eater courts hinge so much on their heroes and the buffs that they dish out.

You either have to focus fire and kill entire units, or snipe heroes. The only things I have found that worked.

Oh and invest in some chaff skink units to place to counter crypt horros etc. Many times you will be able to wary fighter out and continuously negate their usefulness. I'm hoping that ghb2 fixes some of that brokenness.

What is usually in the army that you face?

this is the list he used last time:

1 abhorrant ghoul king on zombie dragon
1 varghulf courtier
1 crypt haunter courtier (general)
20 crypt ghoul
3 crypt horror (the unit that gets buffed AF)
3 crypt horror
1 zombie dragon

he got like 15 crypt horror at turn 3

I'm assuming then you aren't doing matched play?

Those crypt horrors should never be able to go above starting size.

I think your list would struggle vs that. To be honest, skinks fielded at units of 20 are worthless. Personally I'd field either minimum units of 10 or a unit if 40 to give you some buffer to lose a few models before losing your extra +1 to hit. Also makes more sense for buffing.

To best something like this, I think you either need to go shadowstrike, or get some heavy hitters like salamanders buffed with an astrolith bearer to make them more reliable.

If you aren't playing matched play, have some fun and slap down to slaan and fight cheese with stinkier cheese

Let me know about the matched play thing, cause that will determine a lot and then we can come up with a list. I fight vampires a lot too, so it would be a good exercise for me

today i played with the list i wrote above against a vampire list which was something like this:

2 coven-throne
3 fell bats
4x5 blood knights
2x3 vargheist

i lost miserably even if (i think) i used well the skinks Wary Fighters ability and all the buffs...
Next time he'll play with this list.

Maybe i am a bad strategist and the list is not the problem

Alright at least there arent casters that rez tons of crap . its a start.

what models do you have access to? I dont think that your skinks will be effective in those numbers in this case. I actually dont really favor rippers here either without shadowstrike. His army is like all fliers and very fast, so keeping the blot toad up with them is going to be very hard.

I think that i'd play this list below. Those knights really need rends to knock down their saves.

It is a mix between a Thunderquake and a Shadowstrike.

You need a Starseer and two other Heroes which can be a Starpriest, a priest, or a Troglodon
Also three units from this list: Salamanders, Razordons, Terradons, Rippers, Skinks, Basti, EotG or Stegadon

Abilities: "The Trap is Sprung" like from the Shadowstrike (Starseer marks the target) and the monster healing ability from the Thunderquake (without the Slann making it better though).

I just built that in a minute on scroll builder. Use skinks with blowpipes instead of javelins. I didn't change any of the weapons loadout

I usually run shields, It gives you that little bit that they will have a few stay around even if they have rend, plus if you're going to run away anyway why bring clubs

I just finished playing against this list:

1 coven throne
2x3 vargheist
3x5 blood knights
1 vampire lord

1500/2000

He then summoned in the first turn:

1 cairn wraith
2x3 spirit hosts
5 hexwraiths

I lost miserably because it was the last game in the Clash of Wills campaign and all my salamanders died and had to be spawned in the 3rd turn as reinforces also my starseer died but I summoned him in the 1st turn so the EotG became useful in the battalion...
The skinks were almost useless because they died and I summoned them behind the other units as reinforces (as the rules says in this campaign) I'm starting to think that I'll never win a game in AoS...

Don't get discouraged, Skinkly lists are harder to run but the payoff is greater, when i switched to playing pure skinks and no saurus I lost a ton of games but once you get the finesse of skinks down you'll see how good Skink based armies can be and you will start winning

I stick with shields, gives you the little extra you might need to survive, better than them just auto wounding. If you plan to wary fighter away anyway the clubs are pointless.

I ended up using the shields. I wanted to try a guard list, I don't know which list to use next time because another friend of mine started playing (he played sylvaneth in the first game not against me though), and I'd like to use a list that is good against both of them.
I'll stick to a skink list for now...

Skinks are a blast to play, its all I run. Guard lists can be really good if your not facing mortal wounds, then they are near impossible to kill with the right buffs
