I'm gonna go ahead and guess Bowser took the smart route and turned off email alerts for notifications :P

Our only hope would be for an admin to check his email address and do some detective work. Or drop him an email on our behalf.

I'd say he is a fire breathing tortoise. He is King Koopa, and the koopas are all tortoises. Also he has a shell which is a huge component of being a tortoise. He also lacks wings, which are key features of dragons. The only dragon like thing is possesses is the ability to breath fire. So magical evil (from a certain point of view) tortoise.
