Hello everyone,

So me and my little brother have finally decided on what kind of army we want to face. Based on coolness and strenght, we went with a Bloodclaw backed by a celestial Hurricanum.

Now, our 2000 point army looked like this:

Bloodclaw: 100
Oldblood on Carnosaur: 320
Scar Veteran on Carnosaur: 260
Oldblood: 100
Scar Veteran on Cold one: 100
2 Units of 10 Warriors: 200
Unit of 40 Warriors with spear: 400

Skink Priest: 100
Skink Priest: 100

Celestial Hurricanum: 320

This looked like a great build for us, until I realised that we can only have 6 heroes :C

However, one Skink priest only has a 50% chance to make his magic work, so isn't that too unreliable? Should I instead of 1 Priest go with 1 Starpriest and (in both cases) 10 more warriors to one of the 10 model units? So I can buff that 20 model unit with Starlight and Mythic shield and let them tank the first attack? (If I can't charge first), while empowering their bites?

Which of these options do you think is better?

Sounds like you've got a solid plan already, though I'm unsure if you're doing the magic right. Is the Starpriest only able to cast one spell a turn? So Shield OR Starlight?

Well the Celestial Hurricanum can cast Mythic shield, so I can use him to cast that.

However, I'm torn between the Skink Priest and Starpriest, since the Priest gives a 50% chance to give rerolls to all your alles within 8", but the Starpriest gives a little better then 50% chance to give one unit (the 20 Warrior stack) a -1 on hits against them as well as a buff to bite attacks.

The Priest might be better against a ranged army (who can get to the units behind my 20 Warrior stack), but then again a Ranged army would simply focus fire my Skink Priest or Starpriest.

It may just be my inner min/maxer talking, but I struggle to justify the Skink Priest in a lot of my lists. It only really does one thing, and even then only 50% of the time. The Starpriest gives you a ton of versatility- you can use Starlight to protect one opf your units or neutralise one of theirs, you have the option to have mystic shield or arcane bolt on the go if you want to focus on using your Hurricanums unique spell. I personally think dump the priests, take the starpriest. You could even take a balewind vortex for the remaining 100 points...

Balewind Vortex? Sounds interesting, what does it do?

So I just looked it up, and are you sure it is only 100 points? Because it doubles your spells, meaning that Lord Kroak alone would be insanely powerfull with this spell (not that I'm complaining :)). And this would make for a good way to counter those pesky Hellcanons, since I can cast it at a range of 40" then, and cast Starlight on the Hell canon.

I tend to agree. The only time i take it, is when I have 500-600 pts of things that I really want to stay alive (an eternal starhost, a couple of nearby bastiladons or similar things)... and at that point I field also a Starseer, which is not only useful by itself but increases significantly my chances to activate successfully the celestial rites.

So for my Bloodclaw idea, a Starpriest would be a better option then right? For the unbinding, the slightly better chance to give 1 unit a -1 on hits against it, and the buff to bites (which they get penty off). and use my 20 model Warrior unit to be buffed with and take the initial charge. I would be vulnerable for ranged like that though, since I can only use the Starlight on one model. How has anyone fared while using the Bloodclaw against a ranged army?

Though I think that the Balewind Vortex isn't that good an option for a Starpriest. Since it's just D3 mortal wounds or the debuff on an enemy. Isn't it better to take 10 more warriors so that you can buff them with mythic shield from the Celestial Hurricane and Starlight from the Starpriest?

Don't forget you can use the balewind for your celestial hurricanum. Frankly that might be worth it just for the comedy value of a horse drawn carriage flying about on a whirlwind.

So wait, I can use that on top of my hurricanum? That's amazing! :D

Also, on a side note, I really like how the phoenixes look. But one gives you a chance to resurrect him on a roll of 4+ (which could work amazingly well with the Starseer!) and you can deal D6 mortal wounds if you fly over someone (so if you want to attack afterwards, you cannot fly over them again in each following round), and the other one gives a -1 on wound rolls.

The one with a chance to resurrect costs 20 points more. Which of these two do you feel is the better one? I am thinking about taking one and giving him rainbow parrot colors, for that jungle feel :)

Celestial Hurricanum on a balewind Vortex would be hilarious and amazing! The Phoenix are great beasts to have, I would love to see your jungle themed Phoenix! Just sounds so cool!

That is why I took this build as well :) I think 3 Bastiladon with a Hurricanum would be really powerfull, but I'd much rather have 2 Bastiladon with the Phoenix for the jungle looks :D To compensate, the -1 on wound rolls would make up for the lesser lazer, as well as his mobility :)

Also it leaves me enough points to get a Jade Wizard. I bought that old model of the Sorceress on Cold one (how come she gets a good Cold one model? O.O), so I will just proclaim that model to be a Jade Wizard, and it will allow me to heal my 2 Bastiladon, Phoenix, and Celestial Hurricanum in between :)

I can proclaim the Sorceress on Cold one to be a Jade Wizard right? Since Sorceress on Cold one isn't build anymore? I just really love her model, and how it fits the Lizardmen :)

Oh, forgot to add, this will be our more competetive build:

Celestial Hurricanum: 320
Frost Phoenix: 260
Battlemage: 100 (jade)

Heavenwatch: 100
Starseer: 160
Skink Priest: 100
Skink Priest: 100
3 units of 10 Skinks: 240
Bastiladon: 300
Bastiladon: 300

The idea is that we let the phoenix fly low so he can also function as a body block :)

However, if a Chaos dares bring one of his "balanced" hellcanons, I'll probably place lord Kroak on top of that Vortex to cast 3 of his wave spells with a 6-36 inch range per wave ;p Maybe something like this:

Balewind Kroak

Lord Kroak: 540
Balewind Vortex: 100

Eternal Starhost: 520
Engine of the gods: 240
Dread Saurian: 400
Skink Priest: 100
Skink Priest: 100

That balewind Vortex is just amazing! So great for only 100 points.
