why did you choose not to include some little highlights on the shield's motifs? I reckon that would be in order to avoid blurring the marble/jade effect, yet I suppose I would've tried a very light edge highlight on the designs anyway,

Actually that is a very good point, and to be totally honest, I didn't do it because it didn't even occur to me o_O hahaha

Thank for the advice it is a good area for improvement!

Lol ok !! its good to know i can be of use ^^ it was definitely no advice though, as ive never tried such a thing myself. My skills simply wouldnt allow it for now.. Which means its all up to you. Have you been using varnish yet ?
And btw, whats up next on your painting schedule ?

Hahah :)

Yes I have used citadel ardcoat, it works really well for mouths, eyes, gems, and marble...

Next up on my painting schedulle is my super secret entry to the Golden Serpent 2016. So you would get to see it soon if I manage to get it finished by the end of next month

From today I am also the proud owner of my first AIRBRUSH!:artist: So expect to see a lot of horrible work in progress and tests in the weeks to follow the contest! Hahaha hopefully it wont take me too long to learn how to use it

oh damn… i've been tinkering with the idea of getting an airbrush too but its so expansive. Keep posting indeed, it'd be interesting to get a "beginner" 's perspective

Yeah It is expensive specially after you finish buying all the little stuff that you didn't even knew you needed, I had to save for a long time before I was actually able to buy it. Hopefully it will be worth it!

you should def be able to get some nice blends and smoother than smooth textures from it. Follow your dreams lol.

What's all the little stuff? You need an airbrush, paint and medium and what else?

Apart from the airbrush and the compresor I also had to buy:
- Paints that work for the airbrush (as the GW one I have don't work well with airbrush)
- Acrylic Thiner
- Airbrush Cleaner
- Cleaning Cup (I was told by several sources that this was pretty much a necessity )
- Breathing mask (optional, I haven't bought mine yet, but probably will in the future)
- Airbrush quick disconnect coupler (highly recommended)
- Airbrush cleanink kit
- Airbrush nozzle sizes and needle ( if you want to go with a smaller or bigger spray )

the most expensive thing here being the paints

How is everybody doing with the deadline now that we are almost half way there?

Both my painting entries should be finished in time (one actually is) ... But I'm not really sure about my conversion entry...

Nice! I am actully the total opposite of you, I have compleated my conversion entry, but still need to finish both of the painting entries?

I'm the opposite of both of you... neither of my entries are anywhere close to being finished. My conversion entry is sucking up too much time and showing very little progress in relation to the invested effort. :(

I have already finished my conversion entry and I am in need of painting, but can't get starter with it :(

I had to move my personal deadline up almost a month, glad I am finished already! I am looking forward to seeing all of your entries!

holy…zard

So I dunno if i'll be able to get more than one entry. It's on its way but as i'm trying new techniques it takes ages lol.
If i do finish it quickly enough i'll try and paint another one…
Good luck to y'all with your painting and converting!! let's have fun :D

Yeah, I also curious! The only thing I have used this kind of tools before (not an arirbrush, just spray paint) is to graffity "hello" on my protection cardboard :joyful:

Just got done going through your minis. They were definitely inspiring. I had to take a break for the last 2 months relocating for a job... After looking at your minis, I got all my paint stuff ready. About to start my Slann Priest that I had barely base coated.

Cheers!

I've been researching and watching airbrush vids for the past week.. so ridiculously tempted to get one...just thinking of the amount of time it could save is almost enough haha. Let us know how the first test model goes! Will you be doing Zenithal highlighting?
