Dipping your tools in it a single time should be enough :) If it starts to stick again re-water. You shouldn't really be covering the green stuff in water, it's not like working with clay.Are you sure you mixing the two parts properly? if it's too light it sounds like your mixing in too much yellow.
 
Yes something I recognized, too. Better is to work with moist tools than with wet ones...
 
It comes with a strip of like 55/60 yellow 35-40 blue so maybe that's it but sometimes it dries a nice dark green :) and hmm thanks ill use less I was dipping the green stuff in water and putting water all over my cutting board xd
 
I thought it was hard to work with not least of all because I had to have scuba equipment on whilst working with it ;) - My fiancé got me some tools i'll have to use them because my fingerprints are on the first things I made despite me trying not to get them there :P
 
Use vaseline instead of water maybe. If it is coming out lime green you have too much yellow, or it isn't fully mixed. Or maybe you're just using your paint brush water!

Thank you for the compliment! I tend to over-rely on my woodworking as an attempted compensation for my lack of sculpting/green-stuffing skills. Most of my conversions include woodworking to some degree or another.

The ratio of yellow and blue can be manipulated to increase or decrease curing time. I usually stick to an even mixture myself, 1:1.

In terms of using water, I've switched over to using a tiny bit of moisturizer instead. You only need the tiniest of amounts on your tools or fingertips. I've also found that silicon clay shapers are an indispensable tool.

Of course I'm not all that talented with green stuff, so I'd probably take my advice with a grain of salt. :D
 
@NIGHTBRINGER no no your advice is invaluable I saw someone using the silicon thing in a tutorial - I was planning on getting some I saw a pack of 4 for 3£ in Wilkinson (Wilko if your jumping on their ridiculous name branding) - is this reasonable for the tools do you think?
 
That's a decent price. Pick me up some while you're there! :p I haven’t been able to find them for under $20.
 
They may have been on sale - i'll kick myself if they're not there when I go next Tuesday

That is a very low price! I've never seen them for that low. What kind of shapes are in the pack?
 
It was like a small flat one some larger longer flat one and two others I can't recall - I ordered some online slightly more at 4.99 - you can get packs of 5 from china for 1.99 but for purposes of the competition they can take like 1 month to arrive so I'm not risking it :P

Sounds good. I think you will really like them. I love using them.
 
Just a heads up that I've started painting the prize model. It's the Oxyotl that Rikard sculpted that I got as a prize for the last sculpting competition. I thought it would be cool as a community collaborated thing. Not sure if I should put it on a round or square base though.

To work with green stuff you need clay shapers ;) In my opinion though, wooden toothpick and a needle are the best instruments you can possibly use. You can also try dental instruments (especially those used by dental technicians). If you don't want to leave fingerprints some people use gloves (nitrile, vinyl or others). Don't use water as too much of it destroys GSs structure. I use only a bit of water (or eh.... saliva) to make tools moist, but not wet. Water is also the best way to smoothen the surface at the end of your work, but once more - use as small amount as you possibly can :)
