yoyo it's been a while!
Hope everyone is ok

So has anyone tested the dread saurian in battle? The warscrolls looks fine but considering his massive structure, i would have expected much more deadliness...

Thoughts?

I think 4-5 people on this site may have one...

I have one, but I haven't played with it yet :(
I felt it was a bit weak on paper first, but I think he'll work out just fine!

A 3+ Save, 4xD6 attacks on 3+ 3+ with Rend-3 (bye 4+ save), and 2D6 4+ 3+ attacks, I wouldn't say he's too bad.
Also note that until they fix it he isn't a Monster himself, while re-rolling 1's for To Hit and To Wound against them.
Oh, and he heals D3 each turn (if he inflicts damage in the combat phase... why wouldn't he?).

His -2 to Bravery in enemy battleshock tests is also nice, but I haven't really discovered synergy with that within Seraphon - yet!

Anyway, with little effort you have a giant 2+ rerollable Save beastie that munches Monsters for breakfast!

...because it tends to be targeted by anything your opponent has in turn 1, dying a quick and shameful death. :p

Fair enough, but that's 16 wounds that need to be removed - which means 16 wounds that bypass a 2+ rerollable save that don't hit something else! I wouldn't say that's bad - also, I think once they figure out the needed effort to take him out, they'll likely move to a squishier target and deal with the Saurian later. He isn't the fastest :p

Well, yes. To kill the thing, you need to have the right tools, and not all your opponents will be prepared. .. ;)

How long is he? (Nose-to-Tail.) And did they provide bases? (And what sizes / shapes.)

The stat's are not bad, but seeing the size of the beast i would have given him mortal wounds :p

He is absolutely humongous. He doesn't come with a base, so I ordered the biggest one gws has to offer. A carnosaur looks like nothing next to a Dread Saurian. I'm not home right now, so I can't give you the exact measurements, but from memory he's around 30cm in length.

Wow. :wideyed: Three chariot bases long.

I am still interested in those dimensions but it isn't a rush or anything. If the base you ordered doesn't work out maybe one chariot base sideways for the front feet and another for the rear feet –or– an oval base normally used for AoS cavalry for each foot. :cyclops:

Let us know or snap pics :snaphappy: of how it works out.

I found a 170x105 Oval when I went to look.

End to end, the Dread Saurian is about 35cm, and from foot to foot (base-size) he's about 15cm length x 11cm width.

Indeed, the model is gorgeous.
Who knows? I could ask Santa... :D

Mate, if he is even an option, go for him. I proxied him in a battle against archaon without his brutal -3 rend and lost with Archon having 3 wounds left. Rematched with rend - won by 8 wounds. This thing is a demon on the battlefield.

The -2 to enemy battleshock is there to synergize with the Carnosaur roar.

It's a fearsome beastie for sure, but for what is effectively a lump of well-shaped plastic, £140 is criminal. I'm thinking about buying one, getting one of my mates to scan it and 3d print a couple more. I'm thinking a fiver each, which is still 3 or 4 times what it is worth.

One quick legal check later...

Maybe not. But it's still massively overpriced.

Thanks for that info. I like having numbers and picture viewable together.

@YZK are you able to fit him on that 170x105 oval?
