9th Age The soft silence that seems to be setting in on this forum

As I don't get in many games (for any system), I quite enjoy the community. I'm also feeling a bit worn out on my 40k forums, so I'll be here more.

I will be waiting for 9th to clean-up before I even start to look at that. I haven't played in so long that I wouldn't know where to begin comparing or learning that system - I barely am familiar with 8th. I honestly don't know which edition I last played, as OnG was my main army then and I have sense filled out my lizards and tomb kings (I really like cool models). So I'll try to be active here. Poke around and see what's up.

Well I guess it's just the usual up and down that every forum sees according to traffic... If been in many different kinds of forums and there has always been this kind of fluctuations... There are always members who stay till they die and ones that have their peaks and then lack the interest or leave for other reasons.
Also one has to keep in mind the age of ( no, not sigmar) people who play warhammer... Most people get hit hard by real life after some years in the hobby and decide that things there are more important than checking forums all day. So it's completely understandable if they reduce their activities. And at least some of them come back when they are settled and then belong to the group who's loyal till death! ;)
The splitting of the forum is not a problem for me personally, as I'm checking all the sub forums. I have no preferred system and don't play often. Though I always say I play aos on a regular ( square) base... ;)

I know I haven't been posting as much as I used to, but I still check the forums a few times each day! For me, it has been real life: changing jobs in the past year, wife is pregnant, and we have moved back in with my parents temporarily while our house is being built...

That sounds like a very busy life, when will the house be finished?

I play AOS on all kinds of bases as well.

@Silverbolt ? Your unnatural life continues?

I'm sorry you didn't get any cameos in the last two SoB books - they were already a bit cluttered with characters (like 60)

you are all correct about the aos impact, the 9th age forum, the divide created...

the good news is that we are actually quite good compared to others, the ogre forum all butt completely died out after the end times/ AoS fiasco...

I think once the finall 9th age version is up, peopple will liven up a bit, a stable meta will be able to form and peopple will start discussing tactics with more fervor knowing things wont completely change in a couple of weeks...

@Crowsfoot house will be done in a few months. It is now a race to see if the baby or house comes first.

@spawning of Bob no worries on the cameos. I still enjoy reading the stories without being in them!

When things settle down I will be playing and painting 8th and AoS.

For me, things have been settled since July.

This is one of the reasons I'm not even looking at 9th age yet, another reason I love AOS.

Our fluff won't be done for quite some time, however I believe Sylvan Elves will be next and then they'll do the BRB.
Also I believe the intention is to allow people to buy the books at online stores with hardcover.

Is it the same team that is writing the fluff for all the armies or is it different groups for each army.

Also I believe the intention is to allow people to buy the books at online stores with hardcover.
So I guess it is pretty safe to assume that the 1.0 edition will be pretty stable and will be largely unchanged over the next couple of years.

The Undying Dynasties book turned out really well, so I'm interested in what's in store for the Lizards... but largely I'm far more interested in our rules. April should be fun.

Crowsfoot - thats quite allright, a lot of peopple feel that way, hope you give it a try when its done (join the dark side :vamp::vamp:)...

I feel the same about t9a... Or to say better I feel myself to be not qualified enough to join the process of creating a whole new game due to lack of experience and knowledge... That's why I keep it the two- ears- one- month- way... Like @Rikard mentioned... ;)
Though I am quite interested in the topic...

I think all the army specific forums have taken a hit, some are just shells now. Chamber of the Everchosen is lucky to get a couple threads active each month in their subforums and the Wood elf forum was going to shut down though it's now going to be relocated the high or dark elf servers.

I started with 8th and with Tomb Kings when they got their current book. I also started frequenting the Tomb Kings forum. That place was always buzzing! Even though the relative weakness of the army was evident quite soon after the other 8th edition books started coming out, the active forumites clearly enjoyed being the underdog. I got so fed up with transporting those models and the rumours of Tomb Kings and Vampires coming back together that I decided to sell my army. Slowly I also stopped visiting the forum. Few months after AoS came, I checked it out and noticed it was still somewhat busy, but many of the active members were gone.

The Tomb Kings forum is still the busiest I have seen, even more than LO at it's peak. Still, this is the forum I have enjoyed the most, and it has always felt really active. Especially after I joined the Necrons forum, a bit before the new book came. That forum felt so empty. Even when they got a new book, it never got even close to the regular traffic of Lustria Online. It felt weird, because I had heard that 40k was much more popular than Fantasy Battle, so I expected their forums to be more active as well. Wrong. Then I started Chaos Daemons, and though since they can be played in both 40k and Fantasy Battle/AoS, they must have a super active forum. If they do, I still haven't found one. The Daemonic Legions gets maybe one post a week, if even that. Funnily, though, their Fantasy side of the forum is much more active than the 40k side.

I have been somewhat inactive lately, and that is a combination of several things. I have been painting Necrons and, to a lesser extent, Daemons. I have been busy with work and trying to sell my childhood home. I have always been more of a painter than a strategist (half of the time I can't even pronounce that word!), so while in 8th I could give some tactical advices, I'm not very familiar with AoS and 9th Age (waiting for my friends to catch up with that so we can have a game), and that limits my activity on the non-painting related areas of this forum.

Wow, so many words and haven't practically said anything of substance! Umm, I guess the TL;DR version is that, while it's been quiet here lately, we are still a very active forum, with lots of appeal to many facets of the hobby, and I firmly believe that we will stay that way for a long time.

Unless @spawning of Bob leaves the forum, then it's all over.

The place is in very good claws even without me, Capra.

But I'm not going anywhere. I fit right in :shifty::mooning::bucktooth: and no one else will have me.
