9th Age Feedback regarding SA 0.9.1

Did terra-cheifs change so they can take lances now? I thought that was specifically excluded. (I cant view rules atm).
 
I believe they had light lances during the TAC pre-beta list, but now they have actual lances.
 
havnt had a chance to play it yet, but its extremely scary how much S6-S7 the WoC can get and how easily.


o_O manticore is also scary cheap 120 pts if you compare that thing to our T rex ( the hero one). its better in every way except number of attacks and with mark of wrath they are even both S6. It also has lethal strike on top of its d3 multi wounds which is a really nasty combo and it can fly. Seems odd to be 120 pts vs our T rex at 140. Am I missing something here?

sorry i know its not our book but since there seems to be alot of comparsion going on in here thought i might jump in.
 
Same here. It annoys me frankly that when you compare books WOC still look to be the nr 1...I was really hoping on a balanced game. I know they will work towards it, but from the get go i feel like their are still the stronger races and the weaker ones. Probably they do this to not lose 2 many players that did play the stronger factions but myeh...
 
Our army have been scoring very high in several big tournaments in Sweden lately. One of them being a "mini ETC" thing.

Personally I think mark of wrath is completely borked. Their warriors can just pick AWH + MoW and gain = +1A, +1I and +2S. Hello 3 WS5, I5, S5 attacks, lol.

Do we know if marks are granted to the mounts?

According to this:
Parts of models with the Mark of the Dark Gods (Wrath) have Immune to Psychology Special Rule and +1 Strength on their attacks until they lose a combat.

I'm not actually sure the manticore benefit from MoW.

MULTIPART MODELS Models with more than one characteristics profile (such as a rider and its mount) are known as Multipart Models. Each part of such a model has its own characteristic profile and can be referred to as "part of a model".For example a chariot can be described as a single model consisting of five parts: two horses, two crewmen and one chariot chassis. In comparison, a normal foot soldier is a single model consisting of a single part. One important detail to remember is that whenever a rule affects a "model", all parts of the model are considered to be affected unless noted otherwise.

 
there's a lot of talk on th 9th age forum about reducing the power value of WoC right now and it sounds like they are in heavy need of being hit with the nerf bat (along with others, looking at you SE and Dwarfs).

I Didn't knew that, thought WoDG had a free pass because they were a CC army :P
We do get a lot of smacking (and nerf talk) because of our mobility, though ;)
 
so the manticore would under that ruling gain the benefit of the mark because the marks say " the model" in their rules?
 
I would assume it doesn't because "part of the model" would refer to the character.. right? :D
I mean.. It's basically a special rule on the character, so it's kinda like when we put on the stegadon helmet on a T-Rex - it would only benefit the rider and not the mount. I assume.
 
yeah the balancing team should really get to work...i see a lot of complains on elfs, dwarfs, chaos, on the other hand my poor ogres (second army) are getting further nerfs, although the -1 parry hit them hard....

atlleast the saurians are fine unless we get the bat to...
 
They're working quite hard. Even though Tiny isn't part of the Rules Team he's working 60-80 hours/week on this project so they're all quite busy.

Things are being looked into and we don't expect to be done balancing before spring next year. :)
Do mind that a lot of ABC members took the opportunity to power creep. Luckily our's didn't, but a lot of armies will be hit with Teh Bat.
 
do you know if moving forward they are intending to do locked in seasons of the rules? since it is highly geared towards the tournament scene?
 
There'll be two breaks because of ETC, so once the first break hits we'll release version 1.0 to my knowledge. I think first break is to give the ETC board a chance to learn and understand the rules. The second break will be from when the teams submit their army lists and until ETC is done. So I suppose that's "seasonal ".

From there the updates will be more scarce and I believe the idea is to only update every few months, however, I'm not entirely sure how frequent.

Question:
Path of the wilderniss 6th spell: Monstrous Transformation.
It says the model cannot use a weapon and gets the charactaristic changes.
Hydra: WS 6 / S 5 / T 5 / A 6
Now... The Estoric Egg is an enchanted item. Can the model use this when he is under the spell? Since it is not a weapon?

I imagine a skink chief on pterodactyl/Pteradon with the egg getting hydra off and opening his estoric egg... Let the druling commence!

Legit or do I have the ruling wrong there
 
It's not an actual weapon, but an enchanted item. I suppose they didn't people to add the rules from magic weapon on top.
 
I did not want to create a new thread, so I'l just put my few cents here.

v0.11 is out, so what we have now?

Pros:

Alpha Carnosaur now have WS5. That is really good, because all attacks will be resolved against it.

Cons:
Saurian Warlord innate defence 5+ only now. With our initiative (always strike last in fact) - that's a huge hit =(

And now - dusk of logic began.
Now our heroes can wear heavy armour! But if on foot only. And that makes me cry about logic. Heavy armour is too heavy for str 5? Or may be it's too much for our mounts? Damn, even elves can wear it mounted and unmounted without ANY problems.

Skink hunters are not skirmishers any more. Just wow.

And may be I missed this thing before, but: Giant blowpipe became volley gun artillery - and now it can explode with missfire! Just imagine a str 3 skink, that blowing into this pipe, that shoots with that str 3.. And now he can blow too strong, and it will explode with str 5! Just brilliant.

You know, sometimes I think that even AoS have more logic =/
 
Logically some of the new changes doesn't make since, within the game world. But they are needed to make the game work.
We were one of the best performing armies, so some negative changes were coming our way, sadly.
The biggest "nerf" us propably the change in how magic goes, I feel our Coutl has become slight too expensive and lots of disciplines as well.

Y, no need in Coatl now. Skink lvl3 is enough for me.

Still.. "We were one of the best performing armies". Seriously? =) Check championships. Chaos, Elves, Empire. Almost never SA/LM in top-3 in a large competitions.
 
Those are the RT words at least, apparently we were performing too well in Sweden :/
