Ah, right.
I proposed the DE idea to a friend a while ago when we were discussing how GW has an opportunity to create a proper flowing, continuous narrative now. Namely, I brought up that I thought it'd be interesting that as the Dark Elves are currently basically on everyone's payroll at the same time, only allegedly loyal to Sigmar's plan as they sneakily have fingers in everyone's pies, if Malerion, being the incarnate and god of Shadows which basically makes him the god of lies, deception, and tricks, was the only one of Sigmar's old Incarnate-God posse that was still truly loyal. Not to Sigmar, Malerion's no bitch. But to Order itself. Playing up the ambiguity of the Exiles, really throwing their loyalties into question, making them ever more sinister and deceptive, and totally obscuring who they're really working with would basically make them the perfect espionage race. Contrast this to the High Elves who are led by prick-king Tyrion, who is the god of light and therefore seen as a beacon of good and justice who can easily be trusted, but in reality he's a total loose cannon who is very prone to going off and doing his own thing whether or not everyone around him is saying it's a good idea or not. I rather enjoy that contrast.
Though of course, the Dark Elves would still be pretty dark. They're still scary, sadistic, murder-happy slavers. They just understand the weight of the danger that Chaos poses, and Malerion did display the ability to be a very wise ruler in the End Times.
That's just my thoughts, though. Also I now want to make a Cult of Valkia army because I dislike Khorne but adore Valkia.
