It seems rather suspicious to me... <.< Seems almost like someone would get ride of these "Temple Guard"... Careful It's a Slann ambush!

No matter what they did to leadeship, decreasing it for Lizards seems like a weird way to go. Arguably they can still alter this later on, but why go through the trouble of testing this in the first place. Lizards had one thing going on for them, and that was their decent leadership score; take that away and not grant them anything, isn't really balancing armies, its just unnecessarily altering a well balanced army -.-
 
New special rule, Veteran: once per game the unit can reroll all failed To Hit and To Wound rolls until the end of the phase.

-Oldblood:
Cost increased to 170
Gained +1 I
Gained Veteran but Scaly Hide nerfed to 5+
Changed equipment costs: AHW for 4pts, spear 6pts, halberd 8pts, great weapon 12pts, light armor and shield both 4pts
Can now also take a large shield (+2 armor save) for 8pts
Cost of mounts reduced to 20pts for Cold One and 200 for Carnosaur

-Scar-Veteran:
Cost increased to 95
Gained Veteran
Cost of equipment same as Oldblood
So if an Oldblood or Scar-vet join a unit, does that unit benefit from the veteran special rule?... "once per game the unit can reroll all failed To Hit and To Wound rolls until the end of the phase."

Imagine having a Scar-Vet join a unit of Kroxigors and granting them re-rolls to hit and wound for a critical round of combat. :D

They nerfed Ld, the slann and removed PF and come up with this. I mean this is why I currently prefer 9th Age because OH feels like a weird mix between 8th and AoS :p

Oh well we'll see how it goes :)
 
hmmm the new miscast table is interesting, i like it, except i dont know why would anyone use 4 dice anymore since the risk is same as using 5...
 
Except it's not. 4 = S10 template. 5 = S10 template AND your Wizard die.

Centre the 5" template on the caster. Each model under takes a hit with strength equal to PDU+2 (no armour saves allowed).

The caster may not use look out sir or any kind saves.

If 4 or 5 power dice was used, the caster is dead, so saves of any kind.

If 3 or less power dice was used, remove PDU power dice from the power pool

Yeah they completely changed the miscast table. Previously it was just 2-5 results now it's back to 2-12 however you're still not punished (lose your mage) if you use 1-3 dice and roll low on the miscast table. So that's very nice.
 
yes yes i agree with you absolutely on that, i just think that there should be some diference whtether you miscast with a 4 or a 5...

because you need 4 dice for a lot of spells and this means that there will be a l;ot of dead mages...
 
true, but we'll have to see how it goes. For instance Lore of Heaven = reroll a power dice as far as I understand so you can may be able to sneak some things through with 3 dice. Other than that I agree, 4 seems kinda harsh.
 
I checked the other new things, I might've missed some stuff but:


Army composition is overall the same, however currently you're only allowed to bring 450pts units not counting characters. Once all armies have been updated that rule is gone. You can only bring 3 of the same characters and 4 of the same units in core. So no more skink clouds like we used to.

Beastmen have received the first major overhaul. Overall I think the changes are fine and kinda in the same categori as our own LM list - e.g. small changes to price, however they've also done bigger changes in the rare section (monsters), added 2 new special characters (centigor characters) and added a new spear that acts like a lance for the centigors.

I'm hoping they only did this because of how needed it was for the BM army. I wouldn't want the troglodon to receive changes that we don't want at all. A price reduction would be fine at first.

oh and important - we can still take armour of destiny, but the price of The other Trickster Helm have been reduced to 35pts so that's certainly interesting. Most of the old items appear to be intact so that's very good for us unless they change our characters haha. I can see they added an ASF talisman and regen 5+ talisman. The 5+ regen is very important because that mean Vampire Counts can get 5+/4+ with great weapon Wraith King on foot with the Mortis Engine nearby. Nifty nifty.

Crown of Command is 30pts and one time use only.
 
im rather bussy at wor:pompus:k, bu ill try to get a few games under the belt with this, I agree with you that practice is the only way to see what is good and what needs fixing (the russians bulit thare space program based on this principle :D )
 
Do remember that this is the alpha. They still need a lot to add so some things might appear over/underpowered as is. :)
 
One thing to note with Swedish Comp is that while they allow for 50% lords/heroes I don't think they allow combined armies.
 
They also merged lords and heroes into "characters" which you can have 50% of (maximum 3 of the same character).

So far they (swedish) appear to tackle the issues people have complained about for age.
 
#1) it's about as different from 8th as AoS is.
#2) major nerfiing of everything.
#3) Random Heavy handed changes everywhere.


I don't see how it can be remotely balanced with so many changes at once.
Perhaps it Is meant to be more "fair" but it doesn't look very fun or exciting.

Are we talking both OpenHammer and 9th Age or just one of them? :)
